Bed Bob

Well I bobbed the bed on my 88' yota p/u this weekend....the back of my 88 bed was screwed because the p/o had wrecked it into something so i had a 91 pickup sitting around that had a good rear section so i decided to see what i could do with it... Wasnt easy to mate the two different beds but this is kind of how it went.

It was kind of dark in the finish photos but i will take better pics later tell me what you think.

I will try to have some daylight pics tomorrow, it turned out really good I think, the only real problem we had with the 91 bed is that the ribs in the floor didnt match the 88 ribs, so I just had to weld a panel in the bed. But all in all it turned out good.

a 3rd gen section grafted onto a 2nd gen....very cool..Will be checking out the daylight pics when posted.

From the pics it looks a lot better than it would have if you had just put the 3rd gen bed on...Some folks are gonna be doing a double take

Well here are some fairly decent pics. Still couldnt get good ones it was raining today, but this shows the finished product a little better.

you can see i had to notch for the frame rail and shackles... The tailgate is a little bent up, but who cares.

I appreciate the comments guys... And i guess another little peice of info is that the tail light harness plugs directly into the 3rd gen tail lights.. So no cutting and splicing of wires is necessary. Man I can't wait to get the full width axles under this thing, its gonna be awsome..

Just used krylon ultra flat paints Olive, khaki, Brown, and Black, and freehanded the pattern. Yeah i've been thinking about blacking the rest of it out but the chrome is soooo nice LOL....

Nice job on the yota, looks really good. Lets see a picture of that 62 or 63 chevy pickup. I have a 66 chevy stepside show truck. If I ever build another one i want to do a 63 fleetside.
