Well at least you did not put them in and drive on them.

He can fix the rear, but what are you going to do about the front?

They should obviously refund you all the labor charges.

That looks horrible. Luckily Zuk is right there to fix their incompetence.

Steve, do you guys have anyone in your area that you can trust with a front diff?

Yeah 4Wheelers Supply on Washington. This is not 4Wheel Parts.

I think Zuk will be able to salvage it. We'll see.
The front was enough of a bitch that I may see what 4wheelers wants to pull the front and then do it themselves.
I've never opened up the front diff though. I wonder if I were to crack it open if I can paint the gears and check the pattern?
Hmm. Not sure if I want to mess with that. We'll see.

I understand he doesn't like working on the front diffs but I would ask Zuk if he would be willing to crack it and check the pattern for you. Or is that beyond what he likes doing?

Have you put in 4wd yet to check the front to see if it whines? Maybe that one doesn't need any adjustment... just hoping for the best for you.

Thats unfortunate Tim. I second taking up the issue with Racer. Make a claim with them for the labor/parts charge to re-setup both the front and rear diffs. That is inexcusable.

Zuk is a pretty exacting guy. If he doesn't like messing with the front my guess is that he'd rather not give an opinion on it unless he is sure about it. He's reading this so I'll let him decide.
My instinct is to take the truck to 4wheelers and have them set up the front.
I did put the truck in 4wd for a while. With the all wheel drive I was able to drive around on the road with the front engaged. I still only engaged it in long straight line driving though. No noise what so ever, but I'm not convinced that its okay...
Trying to decide now if I poney up to get it done right or just hope that no noise means no bad news...

I sent an email to Racer. I still feel Tim G is a good guy. I just don't know whether the things that happened to me were from carelessness, lack of ability or just chance.
I don't think ANY of this was malicious. I have a feeling rushing and lack of skill came together on these diffs.
I'll give him a day to respond and see what happens. It was a several page email with dates and times, pictures etc.

Well,
I heard back from Tim at Racer. Bottom line is that he let me know I can send him the invoice once I get the diffs sorted out.

4wheelers are busy and are about two weeks out though. Maybe a little faster if I bring the front diff in.

Wow, that is a really bad pattern. I really hoped this was going to work out good for you. If ZUK ever decides to start doing IFS fronts, I know he will make a lot of people happy. I'll be contacting him here shortly to put the stock 4:10's back in my rear diff for the 2000 4runner.

Pull the front if you take it into 4wheelers. Not only will you have a quicker turn-around time, but it will be cheeper for you.

Thanks Brian. I was really hoping it would work out. I may go ahead and pull it just so I can get it done sooner.

Question

Okay, the wiring kit for the arb's are pretty idiot proof. Not quite Tim proof though.
I think I get it all, but the power source seems too easy... There are just three unconnected wires left.
The black one coming off the compressor. I'm assuming its a ground.
Then there are two wires that don't have pre-set up connectors. One goes to the ignition and another to the interior lights. So where did you guys actually connect them?
Just wrap them around an existing fuse? Straight to the battery hard wired?
Somewhere else?

What about the loosing pressure issue? Has the leak been determined? My guess is a crank or two on your fittings would solve it.

I haven't had time to mess with it too much yet. I need to tighten it all down though. That just reminded me. I gotta get some liquied pipe tape before I go and ride today!

What ever became of the front? The rear is good now but I always thought the front would be harder to setup.

The front is going to wheelers on Wednesday. They were super busy so I've been waiting for this appointment.
I wish Zuk would start doing those fronts. (come on Zuk, I know your reading this! )
