I'm open to just about anything at this point - most likely on Sunday.

If I don't find anything else better to do, I'll probably head out to Butcher Jones and hang out at the lake all day.

Oh, and 87slosohc - I have one of those 54mm sockets if you want to burrow it something - but I live in Chandler though
Sounds like a great idea, but Im not sure my 4runner can make butcher at this time. Starting to make me miss my truck! Need more monies for lift and accessories!

I was just there last weekend and saw a Hyundai car and a truck pulling a horse trailer at the first cove so I'm sure you can make it no matter what shape your 4Runner is in

Oh wow, I havent been there in a couple years, I seem to remember it being really rutted. I have a 91 4runner, 3.4 5 spd swap done, 4.56s, 2 inch body lift and 33s. The reason I said I am not sure until I get my lift is because of my saggy factory coils in back I dont get a whole lot of flex before the 33s rub. Speaking of, if any one in AZ has OME coils for sale I would gladly take them

In November they came through and smoothed out everything - there are a few side hills to play around on, but all the fun stuff is pretty much either filled in or marked as closed.

Sounds like you would have no problem at all getting back there - last time I went, we did the whole thing in 2WD - the washes are alot of fun in 2WD at 40mph

It hasn't been as busy as I expected it to be - I think people are going elsewhere since its not as much fun anymore.

We're going Sunday.

Read a write up about Butcher... Looks like a great place to break mine in! My parts made it in today and I'm set to start the work on it next Thursday. (Timing chain, front axles rebuild w/ cv boot replace, Oil pan gasket replace, alignment, tires and A/C fix...)

Thats great to hear! Hit me up when you're ready to head out there - I know that area very well and I go out there all the time.

Picking up a can of r12 for $10 to top off the a/c after going over it...should be super cold.

Didn't know they smoothed out the trails back to the coves at butcher jones, shows how long its been since I've gone wheeling.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know the circumstances. Gonna guess it just wasn't a good fit though. He seemed to be into the mudding thing and that truck was built for the trail, so that may have been a disappointment. Or, it could have just been a growing family, I've been there.

Anyway, best of luck to the new owner. And please don't hold it against me if I get all sentimental should we meet on the trail.

He said he was buying a house and wanted more money for his down payment, he also mentioned he was more into mud I think.

Wont hold it against you either, probably wont be out wheeling it for a while. The trans is slipping(2nd into 3rd and into od) even after a flush and new filter/fluids so I just assume it has the original auto with 242k on it? I like the appeal of an auto on the trail and my last rig was auto, but I think im going to go 5spd when it finally let's go.

Haven't found many complaints about them, and apparently they have great customer service.

Why not just convert to R-134a? The freon is much cheaper and the conversion kit is much simpler to. If I remember right the only thing needing replacement would be the dryer? In there's a Toy Tech lingering on the boards here some where....He might be able to answer or clarify much bertter.

I actually got a full can for $10, was just stating I was expecting to have to pay more in that post.

Thought about converting, but it'll be even cheaper to stay r12 since I have access to real r12 cheap. The system isn't empty its just low enough to get warm at idle.

R12 for 10 a can man that's like crack i'd be selling it and paying for your upgrades just sayin
Well I.have been hearing a loud gear huming noise everytime I was in 4wd so I already had the trans out for the clutch and thought I would tear into the t case and see I I could figure iy out well it spun a bearing on one of the shafts and would you believe this is a trail gear unit piece of junk if you ask me, now I'm down even longer.
