AssYriaNrocKer- What type of shocks does your 4runner use in back, eye/eye or eye/post? If they have eyes on both ends, I have a pair of old bilsteins and a pair of deutchtechs on my retired trail rig that are yours if you want them to hold you over until you get your OME kit.

You guys are so generous and helpful!

Thanks man! That was added to store gear out of the elements. Those single cabs have no room, which is why I now rock a 4runner. Used to have a tent that mounted on top of the rack too, sort of a primitive version of what Corey has.

any chance this retired rig still has that front bumper setup?
Also, took the truck up to Packer AZ last night. From Table Mesa all the way up to a little over 4000' with the FJcruiser group. She did amazing! Kept pace with the newer rigs, climbed overany and everything thing without any hesitation, and just did it like an overall champ!

Thank you. I had a lot of fun in that rig.
Haha. Yep. That is pretty much your truck's daddy. I pulled all of the stuff I liked off of it and put it on that 4runner. Still has the bumper, but its pretty tweaked from flopping the truck twice. It's homemade and not very good quality.
I'm glad to hear that the truck is doing well for you. Climbing is what she does best. That little 4runner never let me down and I hope that it will be the same way for you.
hey, you flipped my tires lmao.

reply to multiple posts.....
Nate- I had seen your 4Runner on craiglist, and thought OH MAN! First mine and now his! What did I do? But then thought, You're grown man ready to make your own decision's. So, Congrat's on selling it. Mine went about two weeks ago too. That guy Craig backed out of the deal, listed the next day, someone kept deleting my listing's. Had to keep reposting it because of this. Finally got it to stick on Sunday night around 11:30pm. Had a call on Monday morning around 7am, the new owner showed up about 8:00am with half the cash in hand, showed later that afternoon with the last half. Got FULL asking price...was only going to accept full asking price anyhow. So your AVATAR, is that the new ride? Nice looking CHEBY....is it a K5?
Jeff- After you get the new gears, there is a break-in period. Bringing them up to temp. several different times and then letting them cool down to ambient temps. About 3-5 heat cycle's of short slow runs. Then a couple more at highway speed's. All the heat cycle's need to come back down to ambient air temperature's before you should romp on em'. Talk to ZUK about this, he should know. And changing the gear fluid before you put any serious mileage on em too. All this to preserve the integrity and life of the new gears....their expensive enough the first time around....let alone the second. Hope this helps....
ANYHOW, if you haven't guessed it by know, I have sold my 4Runner. My economic time's are hard and gas isn't cheap either. Sold it for another Yota though, so I'm not out of the family just yet....just a step child now seeing as how I don't have a T-Case selector in my drive line any more. Opted for a 96' 5-speed 4 banger that get 29+ MPG....she rough around the edge's for sure but in better condition than my 4Runner was when I first bought it. I should have her in tip-top shape before to long...but the paint's a different story. Gonna do what I can to save the stock paint first, then go from there.

Ted.. Yeah sold the 4runner a couple of weeks ago, but I think it's in good hands. The new owner is a member on yotatech, so hopefully I can follow the progress as the new owner puts his own touches on it.
I was sad that you decided to sell your 4runner, but I'm glad that you got what you wanted for it.... that truck was sweet! Let's see some pics of the new 2wd.
Alright...now I'm concerned that you may have been out of the game too long already...my avatar is an '87 4runner, but it looks absolutely ridiculous so I can see why you mistook it for a chevy.
Just started a build thread on it, there's a link below.

Yeah, it was a hard decision to finally take the money and sign the title over. I watched the new owner follow me to the bank for notorization. I kept looking in the rearview mirror....It did have a nice stance and looked good....but the next one will be even better.

UMMM! At first glance, which is all I took, yeah...it did look like a CHEBY....(incorrect spelling is on purpose.) As for the pictures....well now...as stated before, she's rough around the edge's. I've already put together a list of update's she's going to get and sent the list to my salvage yard for pricing. It's located in Missouri and I bought alot of stuff for the 4Runner from her before. Funny thing is, she remembered me...and was also dissapointed I sold my 4Runner. Sent her a few pic's before and after and was pleased with how it turned out and happy she had a hand in it. So those pic's will be up a little later. And the new ECONOBOX is SOOOO low to the ground...I can't help but whip it in and out of traffic. It suprisingly has really good pick up...

Nice, Can't to see what you do with it. I keep wanting to pick up a 2wd as a commuter, the gas mileage in my dd (a cheby BTW) is killing me, but the wife says that I have to sell one of my toys (she means the bike
) to pay for it and I just can't do it.
Just giving you a hard time about the chevy thing, it does actually look like a blazer in that pic.
As always, if you need a hand with ANYTHING, let me know man.

Still waiting to get 220v wired to the garage so I can play with my other new toy. Between the wedding, new welder and new DD, cash flow has slowed down again. Not gonna do anything really, just want to keep it stock...but prettier. It seems like the previous owner only took care of the PM's and let the rest of the truck go...but I know it's a YOTA and'll run forever....with a little TLC she'll be a good truck for me. OH, and if you sell your bike, I wont let you live it down. That bike is NICE! And it really has that COOL factor for sure....not to mention bad assness that come's with having a HD in your stable....JEALOUSY is not a color I wear well, but I'm sporting it where your bike is concerned.
SOOOO! If someone needs or wants someone (ME) to ride BITCH for a trail run, hit me up. But, please dont get mad if I constantly ask you if I can drive or keep telling you to go faster or try to convince you that we CAN make it up the overly huge rock no one else is willing to try.....and then break something in the process...But I'll help you fix it....I promise.

I guess Will didn't go into great detail about the break in period with me yet, he just said it takes 500 miles but didn't specify any temp cycles - yet. He did say not to go giving the truck a big beat down before 500 miles. I'll drop the allmighty Zuk an email about they break in cycles and make sure I follow his recommendations to a T.
I guess pending the break in info I get from Zuk, I may not be going on a run on the 6th - I'll keep ya'll up to date!
Sorry to hear you had to sell your 4Runner - Hang in there bud, in time you will be right back in the game. Besides, I always need a co-pilot/naviagtor - and I might even consider letting you drive, if you promise not to scare me, too much
And I still need to bleed the clutch as you keep recommending plus replace the leaky steering gear box - I should probably do that soon now that I'm running taller and wider tires.

Jeff, here is the break in spiel from Marlin.
http://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/di...re-information
Trail gear has a very similar note. IIRC I heated mine up twice, then drove around like a grocery getter for the rest of the first 500 miles and changed oil. No issues so far. I also didn't use any fancy oil for the break in, just a good oil of the recommended service level (GL-5 I think) Good luck and have fun.
I still need to get un-lazy and organize a wrench day.

One of my friends who builds crawlers for a living suggested I get the gear Cryo'd - does anyone have an opinion about that? I called the place my friend recommended (Cryogenics Int'l) in Scottsdale and he said they charge $7 per pound.
I have a few things that I need to have done to my truck too - lets all get un-lazy and do some wrenching. My biggest thing is the steering gear box that is leaking - I'm sure turning a 12.5" tire is only going to make that problem worse.
