Arizona Roll Call
#142
Okay guys so I'm thinking (as it says above) Saturday, January 22.
-------Who can make it that day and who can't?---------
If anyone has any questions or anything you can contact me here or;
e-mail: deervalleyhigh@yahoo.com
phone: 602-568-0008 call-text don't matter
The 22nd should be doable...if the lady of the house doesn't work I should be able to make it...just have a question though...what are you using the blade style feeler gauges for? Is there an air compressor with an impact gun where you'll be doing this? Never mind.. I'll pm you my no. apparently I have far more questions than just one....sorry.

To be honest I was told to have a feeler gauge at hand? I personally have no idea how to do this install that's why I invited all of you smart folk!
lol No air compressor and no impact gun
sounds good Ted. Happy to answer any questions for you.
-haven't received a pm yet-

Here are some links to installs plus a lockright install (similar enough) to give you an idea of what is involved. Also, a PDF of the Aussie install manual.
http://gearinstalls.com/michaelroels.htm
http://gearinstalls.com/brent.htm
http://gearinstalls.com/scott.htm
http://gearinstalls.com/aussielocker09.htm
http://www.offroadlockers.com/display/Manual_d.pdf
Keep in mind that all the ring and pinion stuff Zuk is describing will not be getting done in this case. Also, the PDF seems to be a generic manual for all or most of the Aussie applications and there are some steps in there that are not needed (i.e. anything about C-clips).
Roni, a couple other things I have thought of:
If you start disassembly ahead of time, mark the driveshaft and pinion flange so they can be put back together in the same position.
I can bring calipers so don't worry about them but you might want to have a rat tail file and a good punch to knock out the roll pin. I have a flat file but didn't need it on my Lockright so I don't know if it would work and every write up I see mentions a rat tail (and needing it). I don't really remember what I used for a punch but it wasn't the right tool ( I think a wood punch and a broken drill bit both of which were ruined)

The impact is for the ring gear bolts...if there's loctite on the bolts, they'll be a pain without the impact... also the lugs. If there's an easier way to do it, I'm all for it. Anyhow, I spoke with Roni last night and he agreed to move the install from his place to mine...it sounds like my garage might be a little more work friendly and I have all my dads tools from when he was a mechanic...I know I have everything to do this install and then some...Plus, I'd like to offer my space and help to get this handled for a fellow YotaTech member...This is something that when I lived with them (the parents) and was a member on another forum I never had the opportunity to do...now that I have my own house (instead of an apartment), I thought I'd throw it out there for him and he greatfuly accepted..so any one who wants to stop on by to help out just shoot Roni or I a PM and we'll send the address to you...All are welcome

Plans are to start somewhere around 10:00 a.m.'ish. Enough time to do the install and then hit the trail for a test run...<---time permitting.
BLKNBLU- I'll pm you..

That's a very nice offer Ted! That the festivities are now only a few miles from me doesn't suck either.
I honestly don't remember checking a tolerance on my Lockright install either but if it was in the instructions, I did it. I was so nervous I checked everything like I had OCD. I had no trouble with my ring gear bolts but the whole thing looked unmolested. Good point on red Locktight if it's on there. See you guys then. Also, PM received. Thanks.

Guys I'm so excited and CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!
I believe I have a rat file and we'll think of something as far as the roll pin goes!
Doing this in Ted's garage is going to make this so much easier plus it's a lot closer to you Mike! This is gonna be awesome especially if we have time for a quick run!
Any questions or anything let me know number and e-mail posted already.

Cool.
Also, just so we can find it quickly if we need to on event day, here is a link to the FSM.

On a side note: I'm having my injectors cleaned/ serviced (like witchhunter does) only I'm using a local company to do it. Does anyone know if I can get the banjo washers for both fuel rails at AutoZone or do I have to go to the dealership? Just throwing this question out there.
BLKNBLU- I have a descent selection of drifts/ centerpunches/ chisles to choose from, gonna double check on the in/lb torque wrench..but I know I have the ft/lb. torque wrench for sure...WHEEL CHOCKS- those I dont have, I usually use the tire I'm removing to accomplish this..
I do have the in/lb...and my ft/lb. only goes as low as 20ft/lb.

Yes, they're called "Banjo bolt crush washers"...they say there a one time use and I have at least 4 bolts and each bolt has 2 that they use on each side of the banjo fitting..I'll have to check with parts stores around here...fortunately I have AutoZone, NAPA and checkers close by, all with in 2 miles.

Also, does everyone know about this site?
http://www.toyotapartszone.com/
http://www.toyotapartszone.com/Page_...onentsIndex=27
http://www.utoyot8.com/Picture.aspx?...ccode=&ppName=
The first link is the homepage for a parts seller where you can type in your VIN and get an exact match for your truck.
The second link is one of the parts lists for Ted's truck (as close as I could guess) and the third is an example of the parts fiche you can view for the parts list that you pull up. They get cute and try to hide the part number by putting asterisks for the first two digits but 99.9% of the time you can figure it out. You can buy parts from them too but I have found much better prices on other sites. I mostly just use it to get the part number, or see the pic, or figure out what the h3ll Toyota calls a particular part.
OK 2nd link is off. I thought it would take you to the fuel injection parts list but it takes you to the main menu. Anyways you guys get the idea.
