Arizona Roll Call

Thanks guys....
AngryBob- Agreed with the shotgun. I've shot a couple of em' in I believe 12g, and the one that's a bit smaller...maybe 20g.? I enjoyed them but my wife doesn't seem to favor them. As to the AR-15; This would be more of a toy/ home defense/ hunting deal in case of a "DOOMS DAY" situation...or maybe I'm just looking for a good excuse to build one.? If I do go with the AR, I would choose a barrel length of 16" which I believe is what the military has chosen for close quarter combat. Either way, what ever weapon (s) are purchased I will always consider it to be used as part of my (our) home defense. I think that's funny, neighbors-neighbors house...thanks for the good laugh. I'm in agreement here with you, just thought it was funny. Oh..and the pump action sound, it would scare me too if I was doing something I shouldn't.
Skyyler D. Wolf Wood- I too write on my Android phone...even sometimes at length. It can get frustrating at times. As with anything, I do believe in practice practice practice... I have thought about taking a couple of courses to be better prepared...just incase. SAFETY- No one's perfect but if I'm unfamiliar with something like a firearm and something happens...I hand it off to the owner. I will be a reponsible gun owner to ensure safety is at the fore front...unless you shouldn't be there. I would like to look into some gun handeling courses, so if any one has any recommendations I'm open to suggestions. I'm kinda lost with the dime drill. I'm thinking you mean shooting dimes to keep your trigger pull smooth...as in snipeing (spelling)? I'll have to read through the link a little later...gotta go get ready for school.
Thank you for your responses, any information/ guidance is appreciated.

hey Snow shredder ...I'm gunna get that cute little key board for this some day.....but to answer what a dime drill is....its to teach you to follow your heart rate and breathing....and your trigger squeeze ....to start....grab your rifle ( really not for shot gun but for accurate distance target strikes...a dime....OK....I generally shoot supported ...the bi pod or a shooting bag....get into position ...place the dime at the muzzle ..(the end of your rifle )..carefully shoulder the weapon ....fix your self on the sights or scope...( again...please...don't point it at any thing you don't want to destroy or kill....I point at the wall...but I 100% know my weapon is clear....now...your on sights....watch your heart rate and. breathing ...there will always be a natural swing from your heart beat....that's OK....now your breathing....don't hold your breath...normal breathing has a natural pause at the top and bottom...I shoot. Bottom....as you exhale...hit that pause....squeeze the trigger ....if your squeeze is good and clean...the hammer will strike the pin and a click will happen but the dime will remain....also to....squeeze and hold the trigger back....don't just let go.....that hold will help you remain on target.....rack the bolt...repeat ......also too....use snap caps...there dummy rounds and protect the firing pin.....OK.....I'm about to enjoy a slegman burger happiness...

Grrrr. Codes, codes codes. SC'd truck is making me nervous. Threw a SC belt heading up I17 a few weeks ago on the way to Wet Beaver Creek. Repaired it at a buddies in McGuireville and all was good. (amazing how much less power this truck has with 4:88's and no SC!)
Last week CEL popped on for a bad O2 sensor...researched all week to find it uses a wide-band O2 from a VW Jetta. $50 and we're all good....NOT!
Headed to Bartlett Lake Sunday the CEL for the O2 sensor resets its self and I'm happy. On the way home, the CEL triggers again....crap! Stop at Autozone to have them read it and it's P0325, knock sensor bank 1 pass side.
Normally this wouldn't bug me but it seems like it's all happening at once. Oh, and I have a "lag" under mild accel. Like it is missing or clogged.
Anyway, just wanted to vent a little before I go google crazy finding others with this code to see how they cured it. Hoping I can just reset and forget....

Well, clearly the planets have aligned in some odd way to make it so the SC'd truck is randomly killing sensors.
Evidently my knock sensor (or harness) is bad and needs to be replaced. (P0325 code) Motor is in full retard mode and suuuucks with no power!
The guru at the SC place was condescending and zero help. Evidently you have to be an electrical engineer to get any advice without being made to feel like a complete fool.
Thankfully "Google" is not condescending and I was able to find that the harness is the culprit 98% of the time. Problem is the entire top of the engine has to be taken down to access/replace the harness.
Problem with that is $$$ for gaskets and misc. things that I don't have and more importantly down time which I have even less of.
SO: apparently I can run a used knock sensor mounted someplace on the engine lift bar and pig-tail it to the connector to bypass the stock KS and thus solve the problem until I CAN tear into the engine and replace properly.
BUT I can't find any pictures of WHERE the harness connects once it is out of the block. Plenty of pic's of the connect point to the actual KS ON the block, none of where it goes from there.
Anyone have a pic or detailed description?
I hate to McGuiver it, but I don't have much choice at this time and need to get it running right.

I would not run another knock sensor off the motor somewhere else and pigtail into the harness. There is a reason the two knock sensor are where they are.
The pigtail from the knock sensors to the harness come from the front of the engine, under the intake manifold, and I think run next to the camshaft position sensor wires, then plugs in next to the injector plugs, and the passenger side.

Thanks for the info, cpizzle...I don't WANT to do the pigtail way, I'm just severely limited on time and money. Sucks that it's so hard to get to the harness. Any idea on what the time involved may be for a couple of shade-tree mechanics in the driveway? (to do it the right way...I can switch to Top Ramen for a bit and get the new gaskets...
)
I replaced the o2 sensor last week (VW Jetta wide-band that goes to the URD Additional Injector Controller (?) ) and was wondering if I may have knocked a wire loose related to the KS. Just needed a better idea of what to look for.

Just signing in") I got several runners and just picked up a sweet 89 Turbo sr5 runner ....its bad.a@$
... got a 88 in the shop ...I rebuilt the 3.0 ...but I think the computer let the black smoke out....Im the electrical madman of my buddies shop...but this time I think its dead....I'm collecting runners now....before I found runners I was a ...." gasp" ...a scout2 guy....built many a international ... but I love my runners....my cruiser is my 86.. love that tough little truck.....y'all have a good day now....back to looking for that darn computer....

Hey y'all ....I had a code 52...knock sensor...so...I didn't want to tear into that motor to get to it....so I bought a new pigtail from Toyota...16 bucks....had a good KS...took the lift hook off the drivers rear...drills me a nice hole...tapped it ...screwed it in....and reconnected the wires....the pigtail was plenty long....and a quick reset of the ecm...and no more 52....runs like a champ....took a whole 15 mins to do....
just my 2¢ worth
.... I also figured out how to replace the water neck / idler pulley in the timing set....that's about 30 mins....
the more I work on the 3 vzw the more I think its got a bad wrap.....its not a bad motor....just needs some love....

I think it sorted its self out though....disconnected the neg battery terminal for 15 minutes and code went away. Hasn't been back in a week. Truck was running like crap still, I suspect I got a tank of bad fuel from QT. Filled up at Chevron and it's been running progressively better.....

I may have to cash in my 401k and do that. Code p1030 came on again yesterday....for the o2 sensor I just replaced. Dumped some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and cleaned the MAF sensor...reset CEL again, we'll see.
#1580
well, I feel like a dumb-ass! I did not realize I have 3 o2 sensors on my SC'd truck....the 2 normal ones and a 3rd for the URD box. (I assume) The one I replaced was for the URD box. So I dropped the $120 for the ACTUAL o2 sensor. We'll see if that cures all that ales her! Amazing what you can find when you get underneath your truck in the light of day!
