Arizona Roll Call

Bloody Basin/Sheep Bridge was awesome! Easy roads like Jeff said, but so worth it with the leaves changing colors and all the vistas. The water crossing was cool (no broken fan this time!) and I spent about 40 minutes trying to pull a Chevy quad cab 1500HD out of the drink....couldn't budge him so we gave the couple a ride out to Cave Creek. Pic's to follow! Definitely a run everyone should make once!
These pics are about 3 years old:

yea, thanks for the idea! It sucks that these places are disappearing and with them is their history...I've been searching all morning for info on that spot and can find nothing.
Here's the map detail of where it is if anyone knows more on what it was, when it was built etc. that would be cool..

Same with this spot near Box Canyon:

Are you talking about this place in Florence right after Box Canyon:

or this one on the way into Box Canyon:

Unfortunately I don't know much about either, but my friend Bill (guy with the big black Cherokee) knows that area better than anyone, I'll ask him about both
I have 2 books of Arizona Ghost Towns, I'll see if there is anything in there about them - When I first got those books I was kind of obsessed with going to visit as many as I could, but my one friend I used to go wheelin with all the time lost interest so its been a while since I went ghost town hunting, but if anyone is interested going exploring.... I have about 30 of them plotted out in my map books.

I'd like to do a run over at Montana Mtn soon. I think its in Florence - it is down the 60, about 3 miles east of 79 where ya turn right to get to Box Canyon. I was there about 5 years ago. Its alot of fun, not too hard unless you want it to be - easier than Butcher Jones, but it is kind of a long loop - I think it took us around 4 hours to complete and there is a cool little cabin on the back side of the mountain. If you have Peter Massey book: Backcountry Adventures Arizona, it is on pages 443-445. I don't have the book with me right now, but I think to book rates it a 3 of 10 on difficulty.

There are some pretty cool old mining buildings like that in the hills behind my girlfriends parents house in Dewey. Also all kinds of abandon mines, we walked about 100 yards into one of them and near the end there was a mineshaft that went down farther than my flashlight could shine! Pretty sweet stuff and super easy trails. Used to cruise around back there alot in my old 89 stock Yota pickup.

long runs are cool with me. We left I-17 and paved roads about 11am and got to Cave Creek around 7pm. Most of the mines I've checked out are on the North-side (Tip-Top, Gillette etc) so East-side would be fun too! Sundays seem to be the best for me, let me know whenever you want to go 'splorin!

Hey everyone, another yotatech member was asking me questions about my truck and told me to join this thread. So here I am. Its always cool to meet new people with similar interests. I try to make it out wheelin or camping every weekend so I ll try to remember to post on here. Looks like a good mix of rigs on this thread.
Those pictures you sent will help out with the power steering cooler idea. Looking forward to seeing you out on the next run if you can make it.
We are a very diverse group of wheelers with a great attitude towards others and always willing to lend a hand to a fellow YOTATECH member...amongst other people too.

For water crossings, is anything besides a snorkle needed?

Yeah, you need extended diff breathers (yours are already entended into the frame and engine compartment), remember the ECU is in the passenger side kick panel so don't go deeper than that (some people put a ziplock bag around it for some water resistance). Afterwards, check/repack your hubs and check the diff fluids to make sure that no water got in there.
