BTW - the wheeling around Carefree HWY at mile #10 is moderate at best. A couple good hills, but nothing technical. Second to none for dirt bikes

it looks like they used the same pic for both because I dont see any difference. what I CAN tell you is that my runner (3.slow auto) would not pass emmisions and I spent alot of money to finally get it to. eventually new cat back exhaust. (not to mention test fees and trip permits) I personally would get the smog legal one.

182k total + bottom end
20 k on the head
3k on the timing chain, etc.
Pretty much what I was thinking, but I was considering doing the "show car insurance". The insurance company limits the annual miles, but its exempt from emissions (this I confirmed with MVD). Problem is in the details with some coverages - "to and from car shows", etc. Its only driven as a toy on the weekends so miles is not a big deal.
I would get a test pipe for the cat and pull of the air injection system while I'm at it.

I never made it out to Bulldog before they ruined it.
There are 2 ways to get to Crown King - the regular way which is just a dirt road that pretty much about any vehicle can take. Thennnnn there is the Backway which is pretty extreme. i would recommend at least 1 locker, some lift, big tires, full size spare and some armor before attempting the backway to Crown King. its a loooooong day on the trail to take the backway too - 5-6 hrs on the trial and its mostly uphill.
I'm most lilkey going to be running Sunflower Mine next Saturday - we should meet up sometime between now and then to talk about some trails, let me give your rig a good once over and see what ya got. Maybe you can roll with us out there - its nowhere near al long of a trail as Crown King.
I am also going to be doing the backway to Crown King on Dec 10th. if we can hit up some trails together between now and then and see what your rig can do - and if it can handle it, you can roll with us to Crown King. I am going with the guys from AZFJ.org - the same group that organizes Sedonafest every year.

as for the Dec 10th run, put me down for that. I'd love to go with the FJ guys as long as they don't haul ass like they do everywhere else hahah.

I've been told that the backway to Crown King has alternate routes around almost every obstacle. With that being said, I've never been up there.

I feel the same way about the AZFJ guys - bring it down a notch guys!! If nothing else, I'll have my 1st gen 4Runner too, you and I can keep them rollin at a decent pace with our slow old skool rigs.

There are alternate ways around most of them, but wheres the fun in that?? ya might as well go in the other way if you're gonna by-pass all the fun stuff

and worst case, just let them pre-run through everything in two hours and we can take our sweet time and enjoy the ride haha. that run will probably take my geared 4 banger forever. Not to mention the amount of fuel I'll probably go through.

If I can afford it I plan on going with you guys to Butcher Jones this weekend, that is, if you're still going? And put me down for the Dec. 10th run as well! By that time I should be pretty decently set up in my LC.
