nice lookin bumper, I got an idea for your rings, you might have thought about the same thing who knows but anyway, have you thought about changing the rings to hooks. that way maybe drill a hole in the bumper, then insert the hook and make the weld on the back side of the bumper, or use a half round for the rings, kinda sort of like a U bolt, drill out two holes and weld on the back side as well as if you tig weld the front side to make it a lot smoother in the front as well as stronger with the weld in the back. With the rings you have to use something with hooks on the ends of them or have shackles and I know I wouldn't want shackles hanging n banging on the front of a nice bumper like that.

Thanks for the input! Ya I thought about using the hooks but not the U-bolt style. Good idea. There will probably be a couple options for whatever style a person might want.

Nice bumper man!!! Really like the one piece idea. I'm anxious to see what you come up with once you start making other styles.

It is a raptor spray in. Haven't ever used it before so we will see how well it does.

Couple pics of it on my toyota.

Well that is about all I got for this project. Overall it didn't turn out too bad. Sure will be nice to have the right tools to do it next time! I am going to get a small business running and make at least a batch of these while I designing a winch one.

Haha, I know. I am getting the business and legal stuff set up now and probably a website as well. I am thinking about starting on a batch of 10 or so like this one I just made to get started and be working on the design for the enclosed winch version.

I dig it. Do you have to reach up behind to access the pin for the receiver, or am I missing something?

That's the plan. I want to get one made up for all the different Toyotas. I am working on making the mounting a two piece system where you mount a bracket on to all the mounting points you have available and then bolt the shell of the bumper up to that. That way you get all the mounting points that you couldn't reach before because of the low profile style. This way there would just be a different bracket for body lift rigs.

Ya that is one of the things I am not too wild about. There is a decent gap to access it in the middle. Next time though I want to make a spring loaded setup that always has the pin in it and you just have to pull it outwards using a little lever or pull handle and slid the hitch in. It would be a pain if you already had the front end stuck in the mud and needed to put the a winch in the hitch.

This is the mounting system I am going to use. Besides the middle support piece it is all one piece bent and welded solid. I am still thinking about finding a way to use the front clip mounts as well but they are pretty hard to access once the bumper is on the rig. Might make a bracket to bolt on before the bumper goes on to make for easier access. The last thing I have to figure out is a spring loaded hitch pin. After that I am about ready to make some.

Any concerns with it?

I'm not an engineer by any means, but it looks pretty tough to me. I do like the idea of adding more mounting points though.

I'm a practicing mechanical engineer and 6 bolts won't hold it on for winching.
Reinforce the front frame crossmember with a plate (welded on) then bolt on, side braces and attach through body mount. Weld it on in several spots. Then it still might bend/fail.
Winching puts ENORMOUS loads on a front bumper.
