Where is the thread for parts needed for Diff Breather mod?
I've searched and searched, and all i can find is reveiws and people saying they put it in, but i can't find the list of parts you need. I've heard its cheap, and i don't want to pay someone for a kit (NWOR). Thanks

Here's a list of parts:
1. Some clear tubing from the hardware store
2. Cheapo fuel filter from the auto parts store
3. hose clamps
Rip off the cap from the old breath, shove on the tubing, hose clamp it on, shove on the fuel filter, hose clamp it on. Route it as high as you can.

Also don't forget that this site has a tech section with a lot of write-ups.
If you see a mod that a lot of people are talking about on the forums it's most likely going to have some sort of documentation in that section.

I know it works with all the new Toy's, but I seem to recall there was a snag with some of the older ones. I appologize for not remembering off the top of my head, but I'm sure that somone with a more intimate knowledge of the '87 era diffs will chime in here shortly.

Jimabena, as a matter of fact, I did read the write up on 4Crawler's Site, it was good, but i do not have a clear picture of what i am to get as far as the NPT fittings. He explained them very well, and gave all the dimensions, and it was a really good write up. However, 4Crawler is also an engineer, and has a much more detailed knowlege than myself, or the kid at the hardware store. So, those fittings seemed to be difficult for myself to get. I can't afford to screw this up by stripping or bending threads, becasue i'm on a very tight budget, and time frame restrictions, since i borrow a garage to do my work. It must be done right the first time, period. Thats why i'm asking. I looked at Robinhood's write up, and because i did many searches here before i asked this question, i found posts saying that people had problems with doing it his way. I'm not saying his doesn't work, i'm just trying to see what everyone has done before i do anything to mine. I was also looking at the fittings on WATRD's site, and they seemed pretty easy to get, just go to the dealer, ask and receive. In addition, they looked like they would keep the hose on better than just ramming it over the threads on the stock fitting.
Also, i have an 87 4Runner, pretty much stock, as it says in the sig, and i know its the same as 4Crawlers. I'm just trying to learn, having not found what i needed in the searches i did.

I added a photo of where the fitting screws into the diff (i.e. in place of the factory breather):

Your front diff will be different that the solid front axle I have on my '85. I like the pipe thread fittings, just pick out what I need at the local hardware store, I can get straight or angled fittings, threaded or hose barb ends and they usually cost about $1/ea.

AxleIke, The Toyota part# is 90404-51319, I'm sure they were less than $1 at Burt Toyota on Broadway. Stop by and ask for Jerry, he'll know exactly what you are talking about.
The rear goes on with no problem! However the front may or may not be to long. The clearence is tight between the top of the diff and the bottom of the oil pan. Don't worry about it as the Toyota fitting is long enough to cut down and still be long enough to make a secure connection. The front diff sees very little movemen so don't be concerned about cutting off the barb on the end of the fitting (when you see it you will understand)
If you get the parts from Jerry be sure to tell him Bill and Brian sent you, He will get a laugh out of that and may even cut you a deal.
While you at it pick yourself up a 10/12mm flare nut wrench at Sears, that way you won't round out the old fittings. You will find several uses for the wrench. It's the only size I carry in my trail tool bag.
If you have any ? or concerns pls PM me,I'll be glad to help you out. Heck if you need to, come on down tne hill and I'll give you a hand.
Just some friendly advise from some one who HAS A FRONT DIFF.
Jake.

Robinhood, the "write up" was actually your posts in other threads about it. The only problem i saw was people said theirs was coming off. No biggie, and thanks for your advice. I have both yours and 4Crawlers pages bookmarked, and i looked there first. Just been nosing around here to find what will work for me.
Jake, thanks man, and i pm'd you
