Project Whln Runner Almost Done!!

Thank you search button...and of course all of your post to read !!

First off the project started when my 90 PU was totaled and I found a bad motor and trannyless 87 Runner. I started by pulling all the good parts of the 90.
4cyl Motor,5spd Tranny, Marlin 4.7 Tcase, drive shafts, rear Arb locker, and lil knick nacks.
So after I yanked both motors I had to put all the 87 wiring, manifolds, and sensors on to the good 90 motor. Of course changing seals, gaskets, flywheel, clutch, and bearings. I found out that with the marlin case and 90 tranny dont fit in the 87 Runner with a lil extra room. So I put a 2" BL on for that extra room. Had to cut a lil for the shift lever. But it runs !!
Now comes the fun stuff.... Since I work at a Toyota dealer I am able to get accounts with 4Wheel parts, Downey Off Road, etc etc. So I know a lotta people love SAS, including me, but on this daily driver and weekend wheeler I have gone with IFS Core.
So here is the list:
-Downey/Rancho Long Travel front
-Downey 3" rear springs
-Downey HD shackles
-Downey brake lines
-Downey Front Shock extention
-Downey IFS Truss brace
-Downey Idler Gusset
-Downey Torsion Bars
-Bilstein 10" front shocks
-Doestech rear shocks
-Rancho Steering stabilizer
-Bud Built crossmember
-4.88 front and rear gears
-Tru-Trac front limited slip
-Black Rock Krawler 15x8 rims
-33x12.50 BFGs
Last but not least... custom Porsche 930 inner cv joints with Toyota outer cv joints. A lil something to handle the extreme angles and the tru-trac traction.
I'll post pics as things happen. This weekend should be the suspension swap weekend.
Of course it is never over. Gotta make sliders, bumpers, skid plates

Have you ran the rancho arms yet?? I hope you had better luck than me, becuae they were WORTHLESS!! The rancho steering rubbed on itself, couldn't use it. My rig wouldnt hold an alignment for more the 5 miles....and that was a lot of street use too... I was so happy to pull that hunk of junk off....The pivot point changes so it's horrible on tbars as the flex up and down, not just rotate.... ball joints didnt last... Since I went 4" I have had zero of the problems I had with that 3"..

But, other than those POS rancho arms, sounds pretty sweet...cant wait to see pics..

Ok guys pics will be posted tonight. Keep in mind that I haven't done the suspension work yet. I just finished putting the motor, tranny, Marlin T-case, and the BL on. So I'll post the pics of the progress so far. And all the new goodies

No I haven't run the arms yet. I hope they dont turn out that bad for me. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I could sell the rancho and downey stuff and do Total Chaos kit.

That would be SLICK!!! that is a killer kit... I have often pondered running it with a 4"...but then I would need 37's, and thats a bit much for IFS

Nope, no BL here...dont like 'em. I had to do some fender triming front and rear. The front wasn't much more than pounding the weld and reattaching the plastic liner, the rear just needed a little trimming on the front of the fender well.... I also plan on making my rear bumpstops about 1" longer, and the fronts are low-profile with 4 washers stacked undeneath, so close to stock.

I am going to put BJ spacers in next month for some additional droop. It's a pretty sweet rig on the trail. I dont have as many trail miles as I would like, but thats changing this summer.
