Por-15
So I just scored an 83 Toy axle at the local junk yard for $90 complete, so now my question for those of you who have used POR-15 is it worth it, if it scrapes off is it like powdercoat where you are screwed or can you just paint it againlike spray paint. SO POR-15 or Spary paint, any words of wisdom would help

you can paint right over it.. just make sure you prep it very good clean all the grease off of it and wipe it down with some lacquer thinner, then paint away if it chips feather it out, and just spot it in. but you shouldn't have a problem with that.

It's just like powdercoat, IMHO. Get a scratch and it will peal. I've spent over $500 on it in my life time with mixed results - and no results good enough to justify the cost.
Instead of cutting corners with this product, sand blast the axle, prime and paint with a good poly.

Like Powder coating, once the surface of the coating is compromised, all heck breaks loose. Water can wick underneath the coating and it can literally rust from inside out. Watched it happen on a couple of vehicles up here. I think there are better ways....
