I've got em on, and they are nice...Still adjusting them to get ride height perfect (thank goodness for the lifetime alignment) and so far so good...they ride better than my old stock ones, but no offroad experience yet...

Just as a hint to anyone who is trying to install any tbars, don't put very much grease in the rear bracket, or you will never get the t bar installed. On the first one we put in, we packed some greas in there, thinking it would help, man were we wrong...took us half an hour to figure out that there wasn't enough room for the bar to slide in w/all the grease...First took us an hour and 15 mins, second, from time tire came off to time tire was ready to go back on..about 10 minutes...super fast once you know what you are doing...I'll post updates as soon as i can go wheeling (stupid new tires too big so need to trim the old fenders..

Freezer, how about stiffer T-Bars for the diesels?

Don't know how much is the weight of the 3.0 V6 and my 3.0TD, but I'm sure it's heavier mine.

I was thinking on SAW's (Nice price) but I don't have heavy bumper or winch so I can be excessive...

Thanks,

David

Bringin one back....

Any comments from you guys with the OME tbars?? How much upward travel you getting with a "correct" adjustment??

Took my 89 Runner to silver lake dunes last year & need a bit more upward travel - rode like a brick in the small / rolling whoops & I wasn't goin fast either...just enough to keep the momentum going up hill.

Thinking about adding a leaf or 2 from an old s10 pack to the rear...

If we take the 89 this year, I want a smoother ride!

Phil, looks like you're still offering these?? Any chance for another group buy?!?!

I watched AxleIke take his 4runner through a moderate trail and he seemed to have a decent amount of upward travel with his OME t-bars. From what i could tell they flexed better than what i had (stock) but he did have an ARB front bumper...

Alternative to S-10 leaves

Fnrunner,

Do you have stock rear suspension? If so, have you looked at using stock TJ coils? I put it on my rig last weekend. With stock shackles, the leaves keep the coils captured between the bumper and bumpstop. I tried it out at full articulation. While the coil is loose, it can't get out.
On the road, it appears to be smoother than sitting on the overloads where it was before. If this hadn't worked, I was considering OME leaves in the rear.

Haven't been wheeling with it yet. but played around on Bullhide's boulder a little

Yes these are still available at the group buy price. Just order by going to: info@trdparts4ucom and give your shipping and billing information or a day time phone # for one of us to call and take your order.

Sorry for not reading your post earlier.

You'll be fine with the OME's. I have 2,5 D4D, ARB bumper and just installed a Warn 9.5XP winch and the OME's work great.

Yeah, still all stock & from what I can gather someone either loosened the adjusters or the torsions are getting weak - the rears are on the overloads.
Interesting idea....can't say that I've ever seen someone do that before, but I guess it's not much diff. than an airbag "helper" spring.
Personally, it looks like it works good, but I'd rather stick with leaves. or leaf's?
Anyways, thanks for the idea...

Phil, will send you an email in the next week or so. I'm in the middle of a brake upgrade on the 85 this week and waiting on parts from Marlin & Allpro. Hope to be done this weekend!

Any body using the OME torsion bars with stock shocks? Or did you have to use a bigger front shock?

Hahaha. I was reading the first 5 or 6 responses and I was like I can't believe no one has heard OME torsion bars, then I realized the thread was from 2004!

What I actually want to know is if the torsion bars themselves lift the vehicle or are they just able to handle a little better cranking than the stock ones? I've already got BJ spacers and unfortunately rebuilt my whole front end and now I want to do a SAS in a year or two. Not thinking about to much about putting more money into my IFS
