I know, I know, you have to have twin sticks with dual t-case. BUT, what if you aren't running duals? Check this out, from Marlin's site..."What you might not know is that these patterns are controlled by two seperate shift rails that operate both 2WD/4WD and High/Neutral/Low respectfully. With Marlin Crawler's new Twin Stick Shifter, we can now separate these patterns and offer the user a 2WD-Low range selection. Since both rails are now independent of each other, they can be moved in any pattern desired. 2WD-High/Netural/Low and 4WD-High/Netural/Low. I have passed over this so many times, just thinking it was intended for dual cases. For some reason I actually looked at them tonight. I think the option of 2-lo is pretty cool.

 

No, you can but you don't have to...

You can indeed put it on a single case to get 2-low, I think it's actually more usefull when used in that scenario since with duals you get a 2-low mode already when you put the front case in low range. Adding a twin just gives you 2-low on your rear case which then allows 2-low-low as well which in the NW is pretty much useless. I bought one, never installed it, and sold it a while ago.

 

twinsticks are really only useful if you have a front locker.

 

The picture kinda sux but you also need a twin stick shifter to make a "triple-stick" like I did. Best benefit of that is it keeps all the shifters in the stock hole:

Man, that is cool. I can't wait to learn to weld, bend and fab, but alas, priorities conspire to work against me!

 

I'll be making a triple stick shifter for my dual cases. It'll add on to my short throw shift kit and move all the shift lever onto the forward case. My main goal is to free up the space over the rear case for a useable center console.

I had a long talk with Marlin about installing the twin stick in the newer transfer cases. the problem is the case needs to be completely disassembled. The interlock pins can't be as easily removed like the earlier design and they also made one of the forks longer to prevent independant movement. This fork will need to be ground down, considering it's hardened and in a tight location, trying this while still together is gonna be very difficult and time consuming.

If I can get another chain driven case I may take it apart to do the mod, but I with my current set-up I really don't think it would be needed.
