Exclamation Lift kit Tires and lockers

Ok i have searched allover this forum and many others and i really need help. I have a 2wd 99 4runner limited with a 3.4 liter engine. I would like to buy suspension lift spacers. From Burtman Industries. The only problem i find is that the front spacers are 2.5in and the back are 2.0in. Which i thought would make the truck unlevel. i would like to fit 285/75/16 Bfg all/terrains on my runner. Which is says i should be able to but i have read of a arm rubbing. I have no idea what type of locker to get i want somthing that is fairly cheap a little under 500 maybe. I have a automatic which might make a difference. Pleace help me.

dont know about the lift

but you will need to buy an auto locker (lockrite....) about $250

manual lockers (ARB/TRD) will start at 600-700 plus...

to find out which one is better for you do a search lockers have been beaten to death!!

The Lock Right is a decent choice. But for an extra $150, the No Slip is better, It's about 80% smoother and 99% quieter than the Lock Right, and is more durable as well.

When it comes to the rear of a daily driver, the No Slip is much easier to live with on a daily basis. I had a Lock Right for 37,000 miles until it wore out. I replaced it with a No Slip, which I had for about 80,000 miles until I totalled the vehicle. I was much happier with the No Slip.

The reason the front spacers are 2.5" and the rear are only 2" is because the rear sat higher when new. The rears almost always sag.

I would NOT buy spacers but replace the coil springs with new longer ones. If your 99 is like my 2000 the stock springs have sagged and will continue to. I looked into spacers also and someone said "your just putting a bandaid on the problem"

I went with TRD fronts and OME 890 in back and am so glad that I did. I'm not sure if the 2wds take the same springs or not. Maybe someone else can answer that.

As for the locker. A "lunchbox" automatic locker can be harder, and scarry, to drive on slick roads and will make noises on turns. I know the selectables,e-locker or ARB, are much more money but you get what you pay for.

Save up and do it right, you won't be sorry. That is what I'm doing. I just got my ARB after saving for it.

If you havent read this it may answer some questions about lunchbox lockers.

And this for answers on lifts.

You can do new coils for just a little more than those spacers.

Whats a no-slip. You mean limited slip? No slip is a locker and provides 100% traction at all times while locked. A limited slip engages when one tire begins to lose traction. They work good but sometimes dont engage in time before your stuck and then your really stuck. If its a DD rig with minimal trail use limited slip it. I see no point in putting a locker in a 2wd rig, since if your really gonna be using the full locker alot you might as well have 4wd as well.

Limited slips are a total waste of money. The no slip is a full locker, and it is a decent unit.

On road, a limited slip is a little better than open in snow and ice conditions, but its not much different on the pavement. In any sort of offroad condition, it is no different than an open diff. I ran a detroit truetrac for two years, and regretted it from the moment I put it in.

Its fixed now.

This will look great on your truck. I've sold many of these kits and it does the job and won't break the bank.

Summit Racing and Randy's Ring and Pinion are 2 that I know of. You might want to search for Powertrax No Slip. I came up with several by doing that.

One thing that I noticed is how much the prices have gone up since I bought the two I had. Seems like mine were $385 and $405. Now the prices are in Detroit Locker territory. The Lock Right is also more money than it used to be. Of course, what I saw is the listed price and is before any specials, discounts, etc.

I guess the popularity of the No Slip and Lock Right has driven their prices up, while the prices of the Detroit Locker (the first locker made) has came down because of having more competition.

The Detroit would still cost more in the long run because of the more complicated installation (requiring special tools and experience). But if you aren't regearing (where the extra costs are already being paid for), I would get the No Slip.
