Hi-Lift Jack Rattling

Hi All,

I have my Hi-Lift mounted to a Yakima Load Warrior using the Yakima Hi-Lift mount. Now there is a really annoying squeak/rattle when I go over bumps. I bought the isolator for the handle cause I thought the handle was banging against the body, but it didn't fix it. It might be the handle itself moving around where it connects to the base, but I can't be sure. Anyone else have this problem? Has anyone figured out a way to stop it?

It is probably the jacking mechanism itself. Just take the Hi-Lift off the rig when you aren't wheeling anyway and problem solved. You might also look into getting a Hi-Lift bag if you are going to leave it on there year round.

Yes I have that exact smae issue with mine. I also have Load Warrior, I thought I had fixed it many times over with different things, but it soon returns and usually with vengence. I thought it was a good idea to have it with me all the time, just in case I have to change a tire, with my 285s the bottle jack is almost useless, but this rattle is going to force me to just chance it.

If anyone has an idea help heyben and myself out.

The foot/base of my jack rattles against the main upright part of the jack (see red circle). I use a bungee cord (not pictured) to pull it tight in one direction and keep it from rattling.

Yep, bungee cord from the plate to somewhere on the main shaft does wonders!

Done that, I've zip tied the base to the main body(jacking mechanisim) and still the rattle persist. Or am I missing something in the bungee idea.

I'm thinking alot of it comes from the jacking mechanisim it's self is whats making all that noise.

I originally thought it was the base too, but I pulled the entire base plate off and drove around...same damn rattle/squeak.

one other possibility that happened to me recently... kind of a stupid one (but I'm kind of a stupid guy sometimes)... Is the jack locked in the "goin' up" position? The release lever will rattle like a son of a gun if it isn't locked in place.

My handle rattles because the latch is not tight enough, check that.
