Dual Transfer Case Question
I was thinking of putting a dual Toyota case on my 88 4Runner 5spd. What I want to know is that is it going to effect drivablity. I would not think so but I want to know for sure. The other question is when I legthen my front driveshaft are people getting them made or just legthening the orignal. Thanks for the help.

I have an '88 with dual cases. Driveability is not affected by doing dual cases.
Where in VA are you? I had my rear shaft shortened and my front shaft lengthened by a heavy truck spring shop in Sterling. I think the place is called Chantilly Spring Works. They generally do dump truck springs, but I got my shafts done there and they have made me custom leafspring u-bolts a couple of times.

Im on the coast. I talked to Stardard Machine shop in Chesapeake and they said they would have to see them first. He said that on some of the imports they have to make a whole new drive shaft. How much did yall spend at the machine shop? I dont think a square shaft would be good because you cant balance it, maybe Im wrong. Ive heard of people using the rear shaft on the front. Can you do that
? Do I need to get ride of the cv joint on the front shaft?

Do not make a square shaft unless you NEVER run on the road in 4wheel drive, for example, if you never get snow. You probably can't safely run a square shaft at much above 20 or so.
Key word there is safely, i'm sure people have done it, it's just a dumb idea.
