How much would it take to install 2nd gen ADD drive flanges onto a 1st gen SFA or 1st gen IFS front end? All help is appreciated.

 

On IFS, no problem, just swap away. On a solid front axle, you'll need a 30-spline flange, like the FJ-80s use:

So IFS trucks have a different spline count? Hmmm... now I need to find a junkyard that has a FJ80 laying around.

Me and manual hubs are not good friends. I've broken two because of stress and just bashed my third on a rock, breaking the dial and faceplate. I don't see much need for fuel economy on a truck running 37" mud tires and don't believe the extra wear and tear from <2000 street miles a year will hurt anything.

3rd gen 4runners only came with ADD to my knowledge, you need an expensive conversion kit to put manual hubs on them.

 

yes downey makes a kit but alot of $$$. but one of my cv boots is torn so i figured i would go to the hud conversion.

 

At least in my case, drive flanges would really suck on the pavement. The 12" travel industrial coarse splined front d'shaft shakes like crazy over 35 MPH. The spine fit is reeeeal sloppy, but it's stout.
