I have a 98 4runner, with a 3 inch revtek suspension lift, diff drop, and bilsten shocks all the way around. What else would I need to do to fit 35s under it with out any rub? I know some trimming would be necessary, but as far as parts, what would be needed?

 

body lift, regear would be needed....

 

How big of a body lift?

 

there was a guy one here who was running 4" susp. and a 3" rodger brown body lift and 35's. 4" is pushing it, so 3" and then some fender trimming.

 

i have about 2.5" suspension lift and 1.5" body lift. i plan on running 35s once my 33s wear out.
i'm not lifted all that high, so i'll make up for that in trimming. lots of trimming.

i've already regeared to 4.88s. i plan on adding a tranny cooler and power steering cooler just to be on the safe side.

 

3 inch suspension, 3 inch body, and fender trimming. All of that should do the trick?

Would I need stronger springs/shocks to keep from sitting down on the tires when the shocks fully compress?

 

If you really want 35's, buy them, put them on and cut stuff out of the way till they fit.

Schaefer ran them with ~3" of lift. All of that is relative.

Regear, get tires and start cutting.

Exactly buy the tires you want and build the truck around them. I have about 2" on my 2nd gen runer and I run 35's

 

I didn't know you could run 35s with that little of a lift. What kind of lift do you have?

 

You can fit 44's with no lift, its called a sawzall.

No seriously. the rear is a pair of 1.5 in allpro coils and a set of 2.25in spacers. I know what your thinking, but before you grab your calculator yes its more than 2in. But it isnt I put in the coils and I got NO lift.

Besides fitting big tires in the back is easy. The front has a set of downey t-bars cranked about 1.5 in. (and no it doesnt ride harder, and my front end takes the same beating) I had to pound the body seam flat, some of the fender, ditch the valance thing under the stock bumper, and you have to have a +3.75 backspacing to keep the rubber out of the steering. If you have a idler arm gusset (like me) it will harder to do. It was easy and not a big deal to do.

I wheel in a set of 33x12.50r15 tsl bias plys, which are HUGE 33's (33.7in) they dont rub, but I dont think the 35s will work off road. The reason I crammed these on is bc I needed some new tires, these were cheap, and I plan to sas. At which point I dont want to buy new bigger tires.

 

What exactly is "SAS"? I'm still working on figuring out all of the stuff.

solid, and it doesnt cost any more than a ifs lift and all the ball joints, and steering sytems, and cvs youll have to bye by lifting ifs

 

I havnt really done any hardcore wheeling, so im just trying to figure out what I will need to do over the next year or so. I love my truck and want to be able to do as much in it as possible. Sorry for my lack of knoweledge.

I run 35's on my 96 4Runner. I used the "Steve" plan to get it done. I suggest you use the search button to find out more. There are a bunch of people here that have accomplished the feat several ways.

It is no easy thing, and it I don't know of anyone that did it without permanently modifying the truck.
