Aftermarket Headers - Which?

Brain-lock issue/question: if you were going to replace the crack-prone OEM exhaust manifolds on a 2000 Tundra V8 with aftermarket headers, which brand would you choose? S&S have been recommended...

Thanks

I'd replace with TRD, even though they are expensive.

Are you in Kali? The S&S long tubes do not have a CARB #. Neither do the S&S autochromes. JBA and TRD do. JBA's are bolt on, TRD's need welding.

If you are looking strictly at performance gains, I would guess that either thr TRD or S&S long tubes would be the way to go

Ex-Kali; Northern Virginia now.

Looking hard at JBA; second OEM manifold has just failed - performance gain would be a plus, plus I need this to be the last time I eat the labor cost of a fix (my business time constraints and need to get the truck back up and running ASAP mean that a pro shop has to do it for me).

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.

If you're thinking about TRD be sure whoever you order them from has them in stock. I ordered the TRDs for my Tacoma and they are back ordered until God knows when. I know it's not a Tundra but I also hear they are fixing a leak issue with a slight redesign of the header connections to the cat. Maybe this is why they are backed up.

I just thought I'd mention it since you're talking about needing something ASAP.

I just put a set of SS Autochome headers on my T100 and I like them. But if I had the budget(I'm in college) I would get a set of TRDs. They just seem to be the highest quality and best looking. And do keep in consideration emissions in your state.

I have a 4x4 with a manual transmission and the 3.4L. The headers would most likely fit. I think they are ment to fit a 4x2 taco. They bolted up to the motor fine. But I had to bend a crossmember some for clearance and had to have a custom adapter made up to the collector. I like them. I didn't feel a huge power increase but mileage did go up. And at $189 shipped to the door what do you have to lose?

A fellow on Tundra Solutions modded his Tundra with JBA Headers and the Spintechn Sportsman XL Muffler. He boosted his rear wheel HP from 204 HP/271 TQ (on the Dyno - stock) to 220 HP and 302 TQ (or so I recall reading). I think those are pretty reasonable gains and worth the $$$.
That's 16 more HP and 31 more TQ at the rear wheels.

JBA produces a very high quality product. I have experience with their products on several different applications and have always been impressed.

I look forward to getting my JBA headers for my Tacoma. As soon as I can $$$

I have no reason to believe that their Tundra headers are not of the highest quality.
