3VZE rebuilder needed
My 94 Runner V6 motor died, looks like the crank broke at the journal by the flywheel.
I need suggestions on which builder to get a long block from.
How about these builders?

Try Putneys: http://www.putneyscustommachine.com/...20Machine.html
Jim is a really nice fellow. He's building me a new 3vze right now as I type this. I had to eat a loss from a rebuilder that you linked up. Garbage motor. Don't be fooled by unlimited lifetime warranties. With some of these rebuilders it means having to pull your motor all the time because it doesn't work right.
Good luck with your project!

I think the motor was a crap rebuild. I bought the runner 3 years ago and the guy said he had a buddy rebuild it. I got 26k out of it. It started making a slight clicking noise like some kind of light weight sheet metal slapping something, then at the stop light taking off BOOM done! No hole in the case though???

Two of the other companies only sand the head, sand the surface on the block that the heads mate to, put sleeves in the valve guides (don't actually replace the guides and seals) and don't replace the freeze plugs unless they show leakage. I'm sure there were other things that I wouldn't like but these items scared me off. There is a $700 dollar difference but I really like my runner.
Plus Sunwest also includes more items on the long block (these items are just a bonus in my mind).

Maybe I'm missing something. From what I've seen you need to find a 5VZ motor, a trans that matches it (I suspect from the same vehicle the 5vz came from) and gotta do some rewiring.
I'd like to have this in my runner. Any suggestions on people doing this for someone in Colorado?

I think I owe Wyoming9 and BMcEL a thank you. After seeing both of your post I started searching more and finally found someone with experience in the swap. Gonna have it all done in about 3 weeks from now.
Thanks

I visited toyotacarpart.com a.k.a. APR Autocare - 2450 East Platte Avenue - Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 shop and they showed me some of their procedures.
They were nice people but there processes scared me away. Sorry your having a crappy experience with them.

Well, after letting this albatross sit for over a year, we decided to dig into it and see what it would take to get it going. Looks like the block surface (not the heads) is out of spec between the two cylinders that failed.....so the block is toast. $%#$@#%^$#@
Failure is between cyl 3 and 5
