They are 305/70's, so pretty much 33x12.5's. Same tire I had before, figured I would give them one more try before I tried out 35's.

Flack? like people don't think 3rd gens can wheel? Thats when you go out and show them what a 3rd gen really can do sounds like you wheel your rig more than most do anyways.

not they just dont think it posiable to have a nice looking rig and keep it that way if you wheel it, granted Ive banged mine up some but its be things I planed on changeing out anyway so far.

Replaced the lower ball joint bolts today. Ever since the last Pismo trip I had to replace them with cheap Ace Hardware bolts because most of my other ones had fallen out on the dunes for some reason, guess I didn't use enough Locktite on them. I got some new factory bolts because I was worried about the old bolts not holding up if I head to the dunes again

New factory bolt on the right, cheap Ace Hardware bolt on the left. Plenty of Locktite this time.

The 4runner is due for a bunch of maintenance. Still havent replaced my leaky oil pan, need new valve cover gaskets, new cv's and new lower A arm bushings. Tired of the floor of the shop looking like this

Also the hunt has begun for a complete E-locked rear end for a 4Runner. You don't realize how handy a locker is until it is gone.

However an open rear is handier than a broken locker. Silver lining. Good luck with the hunt. I wouldn't trade my e-locker for much.

Keeping my eye on your thread.

Maintenance sucks but its a necessary evil.

Hope all goes well!

About the locker, I LOVE my e-locker in my Taco, it's great!

Decided to stick to an open rear after the Aussie crapped out eh?

Yeah yeah rub it in

Well I definitely wanted to get that aussie out of there before it destroyed my new set of tires. And at the time I didn't have the money to throw something else in there right away, so open it stayed. But now the fund pile is slowly starting to grow, so hopefully it won't be too long until I hunt one down. It would be nice to really wheel again!

Heh

Now was it the Aussies fault that your tires wore down so badly or was it the fact that (I think you said) the springs fell out? This is a bit worrying to me as I plan on buying an Aussie soon.

I hope you get an e-locker soon!

Auto lockers and automatics dont mix. of course, clutching around corners wears out the clutch more, but i haven't had issues with my 1200 lb MC clutch yet. I have two aussies and they're flawless... i'll be buying my 3rd here soon for my 1989 FJ62 axle.

You are both right. The locker was useless to me after about a month because the springs snapped, which caused the locker to never unlock. So I was dragging my tires around corners as if my diff was welded. And an automatic is naturally going to cause more wear than a manual with a locker, because there is no way to fully disengage the rear end unless I was to throw it in neutral on every turn. Which would be retarded because my tranny would wear out.

Brian, Don't let this worry you, I would get an aussie if that's what you have your sights on. I'm the only person I've ever heard of having the springs shear on. And with a manual you arn't even gonna know the locker is there on the road.

Troy, locker is long gone. That bad boy sold within a half hour of me posting it up.

Im still keeping a eye out for any selectable locker for ya not having any luck tho, pick n pull is starting to get tacomas and 3rd gen 4runners on there lots. They only charge $100 for a third member and $249 for the entire axle w/ 3rd so if I do come across one ill grab it

Right on, well I got the money so you don't have to worry about that part. And thanks for the thought!

I've never been to a pick n pull before, This weekend looks like it will be my first

Just a thought. Is a landcruiser axle an easy swap? I honestly have no idea about suspension, mounting, and gearing, but they have e lockers too.
