Your rebuilding an engine.. and you can't adjust your valves?

Just finished up with the exhaust valves today. The thing runs like a freakin champ!!!
Measured clearance after the shims were in and I got .014 across the board

Anyone thinking about doing the valve shims on a Tacoma or 4Runner 2.7L 3RZ should not take the advice of the FSM regarding the procedure (which can be found here for the 2RZ/3RZ and here for the 5VZ).
JUST PULL THE CAMSHAFTS! You won't need to fiddle around with the stupid SST's
This write up is basically what I followed:

Props again to Mr. Pismojoe for all of his advice regarding this. I owe ya, buddy

Scuba....do ya think it would be the same for my son's 3vze? I'm gonna read that thread.
EDIT:...we have not taken the heads off yet because I felt they are safe where they are.....but I do recall alot of complaining about valve shims when I was doing my reading

I believe it will be the same for the 3vz. I think I read somewhere that those are a shim over bucket style. Just like my little 3RZ.
Note, the shims cost about $7.50 each.

Jerry, the 3vz is pretty much the same, but its a little more of a PITA since its SOHC's that are sealed at the sprockets. There's no way around taking the cam sprockets off, and replacing both cam seals.

I ordered my Trasharoo spare tire bag yesterday and got it in today!

Took about 15 mins to install. Of course, I don't have a spare tire on the back of my truck but people have installed them on the tail gate. Worked just fine for me. I had to take up almost all of the slack in the lines but it fit just fine.

The Trasharoo is geared towards offroaders and is meant to be a trash bag (liners not included) to keep the bed or cabin of your 4X4 clean and mess free from your trash and also the trash that we encounter on the trail that is not ours.

I've been using my friend Troy's bag a lot but finally decided to pull the trigger when I saw they have a free shipping deal until 2/7/11

Pics:

Its a great bag. Its very sturdy and well constructed and will take a lot of abuse.
Can't wait to hit the trails next weekend and put it to good use

I like that! Definitely better than my usage of 4 trash bags that always seem to rip and get tangled...

Yeah, but I didn't. Since a mod over reacted and flipped out, and one was mature and respectful, my non-infraction was nullified.
