Next big install is the crawler box. I've still got to tear down the RF1A top shift case that I have and throw some 4.7s in its reduction box. Then buy another adapter for the whole dual case setup. I wanted to have it ready by new years by that was unrealistic.
I think it'll be about 2-3 months before thats ready to bolt in.

Hey Scoob,

Sounds good! Question.... If I can find time to meet you guys next trip up there... even if it's not a big organized one, ... when I get to where mine can't go further, can I jump in yours or walk it for ya? lol. Don't think I'll be creeping up the stuff you do any time soon without another, 'trail rig' ...if I'm lucky enough to find one in good shape for cheap! lol.

Thats a huge maybe.

I mean, I wouldn't mind giving you a ride but, my scion seats take up a lot of space in my single cab. Also, it depends on what trail we wheel and where its possible for you to leave your junk. If the stars line up, then no prob.

Hahahaha! "leave your junk", I love it! lol. It's ok man... I just would like to try it out... I'd at least like to meet up with you guys and take it as far as I can. I'm ok at creeping through some pretty decent stuff, even when mine was fresh but pretty stock. Once I get this stuff done, I'll be able to get quite a bit further than now. Either way, doesn't matter..... I just would like to meet you guys, why not, eh? lol.

Sliders...

I worked on getting my sliders re mounted yesterday. Both sides are almost done with welding the legs and scab plates together.. Today I'll cut up some gussets and weld them onto the legs. Then weld the sliders on the truck...

Once these are back on I just need to finish trimming the front fenders and then I'll be ready to wheel

On another note.. I'm almost a level 9

BTW, by the time I read this... YOU ARE LEVEL 9! wooooooooot! lol.

Looks good, Scoob,

Mark

Progress pics. Sliders are ready to be welded onto the truck..
Taking a lunch break.

Welding them onto the truck is going to be a huge PITA due to the inevitable splatter that'll come from the flux core welds.. but whatever.

Sliders are complete. Just need to paint what is un painted and I'll be good to go.
Welds from the scab plates to the frame came out very well on the drivers side and okay on the passenger side. I think I bumped the wire speed when I was moving the welder to the other side of the truck.. Cause when I started welding on the passenger side it was way off. Where as it was PERFECT on the drivers side.. IDK. They ain't going anywhere though

Mocking and positioning. I think at this point the rear and middle mounts were tacked and I was trying to get the front level and bring the gap in a little bit.

Tacked.. Checking for levelness

Done.

No.. I did not take the opportunity to repaint the bottom of the sliders.
Was pressed for time.

Thursday or friday I need to pull my coilovers again and finish trimming the fenders.

I just found some pictures from the first day I had the truck.
I painted the steelies from my old 91 and put them on this thing but I think I had the wrong lug nuts and it wouldn't roll...

The box finished? You mean the bed bob? Yea it's finished.
I have another thread around here somewhere with more pics of it. You'd have to search for that..

It was the offset of the wheels. I did the same thing when I first got my '97 Taco...the wheels were catching on the front caliper...

Thats what I figured back then as well. Forgot to add that in the last post about those rims..

You know.. I was a bit worried at first to tell you the truth.
Last time I welded up sliders to a friends 06 Tacoma the outcome wasn't the best. Welds weren't pretty. I think the main problem then was me not knowing how to tell what the problem with the bead was. IE, wire speed too high, too slow.. Not to mention. Welding those vertical lines on the frame for the scab plates is a PITA.

However, I actually did really well this time. After a few tack welds I could tell my wire speed was almost dead on.. And the way I put the scab plates in the diamond shape on the frame made it a lot easier to get a solid weld compared to when doing a vertical line. All in all. The 110 Welder can handle it no problem. Its the operator who has to know how to use the machine and adjust accordingly. ....

It was too dark to get a good shot of the scab plate welds last night, but I'll get some next chance I get..
