I'm not bashing your rig. Far from it.
He asked about building something like Erik's rig. Something like Erik's rig would be $15K. I know, I have one similar.

im just sayin.. erics rig is awesome as hell! im sure yours is to! i should have said you dont have to spend 15k you can spend 4-5k and have something like mine.. yours isnt on rme is it?

I will have to disagree with you though. $4-5K isn't even remotely realistic to build a solid axle 3rd gen 4runner.

Dude that plate just rocks!
I love it. You definitely have skills. I am 44 years old and am doing more mechanically now than I have ever done but I am still learning. My dad taught the basics when I was young. Guys like you and the people that are found here are an inspiration to me. I totally agree with the "Built not bought" mentality here and love to work on my own stuff. You should be proud of your fabrication skills and mechanical ability at such a young age. I love to be able to do what you do so I could pass those skills on to my 12 year old son. But he's learning the basics like I did. It's nice to be self sufficient and not depend on other people. And save some money.
Your 4Runner is awesome. Build it the way you want it but listen to the different advice you get here. There's an immense amount of knowledge here that I'm sure you will contribute to. Thanks for the great pics. My DD is an 94 4Runner with a 22RE/5 speed that needs some work. I also have an 88 4Runner sitting and waiting for an engine rebuild that my son and I want for mudding/DD. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve next.

Whoo hoooo!
Good news! I finally bought my 5.13s and everything to do it! She's getting finnished right now! 5.13s are in and done in the rear end, Workin on the cut n rotate witch includes cutting my front hanger off and making it wider! I bought trail gears hanger and cut it in half and extended it like 6 inches. Working on cutting the cast built in perch off the 60s pumpkin to put a regular perch on! Pinion is going way up! This weekends project is gear the rear (done) install bomb proof t-case mount(done and made a HUGE differance), and get perches on the axle with the pinion angle I want (in progress) and put my arb bumper on! (in progress) next weekend will be cut and turn the c's to finish the housing then install my arb/ arb compressor/ air up kit and 5.13s with my new Dana 60 to tripple drilled Toyota driveline flange, And maybe finish up my rear bumper and possibly make a square driveline for a temp!
I'm so excited (over 2 grand later just in axles).
Pics soon!
