Well I've accomplished a long awaited up grade a lot sooner than I anticipated. I have been wanting to move up to a 315 70 for awhile, I planed on doing it when the BFGs I had wore out, but I was offered a deal on a set of 4 that I couldn't pass up.

I have to level this thing out side to side and probably a 1" BL but I can drive it now with minimal rubbing. Will update more later thanks for checking in.

Whoa! I was too chicken to do it. It'll be nice to have that little extra bit of clearance and you'll like that small body lift for some of the wrenching you'll do.

Thanks hab, do you have a BL on yours? I can't remember. Did you have to deal with the driver side lean at all with yours? I've always had it since I lifted this thing, it's just way more pronounced with these tires.

Does look great with the 35's. Why is the song "Rollin on 35's" stuck in my head now?

I do have a 1" bl. Install was not too bad without the fat-lip bumper. No driver side lean with my ss 1.2 lift when I measured wheel wells way back when. Is that from the weight of the gas tank?

The one time I actually thought ahead was in ordering my addicted front bumper, I ordered it set for a 1" body lift, rear bumper and sliders eh not so much :-(. I am in no way dissing toytec the have been great to me, but most of the reading I've done on the lean deal seems to involve their light duty coils, they are supposed to be side specific and Id swear I've swapped them side for side once trying to fix this and I'm going to check them again just to make sure but you may remember I ran a set of 80 series coils for awhile and although it sat considerably higher in the rear it still lean to the driver side. All the research I've done points to a 1.5" spacer in the rear and maybe somthing mild in the front. I'm for sure not the only person that has dealt with which makes me feel better but so far I have not found a conclusive answer to the reason, and I'm not going to beat my head against a wall figuring it out I'm just going to follows others lead and fix it :-)

Yeah, I've seen the threads about the lean but haven't looked into it 'cause no lean here and I'm not measuring again just in case.

Park on a slope? Put the spare on the right side of the cargo area? Only approach the truck from the side? Actually, you've done me a favor and a half. I'll be double checking for lean when I'm deciding what side to put the spare on in back. I was leaning towards driver.........ha.........leaning........(sorry)

I hear you on the bl. Is there a safe bracket available or buildable for the rear bumper? Can you use something to fill in the gap between body and rear bumper? Weatherproofing stuff or something- and would that suffice? Sliders, well, you know what to do there- and good call on the front bumper!

Love the way the truck is coming along and turning out!

And I gotta agree with you. Chef, the Gorilla is way good.

All easy fixes hab but I think I'll actually fix it lol. The rear bumper when I built it I wanted it to be bolt on, I'm going to see how things go maybe new mounts or I may just move it up and weld it, the sliders I plan on starting over with something a little more enter/exit friendly. It will all come together, these are the things you deal with when you don't start with a good plan:-(

Taco Lean

When I bought my 4runner with stock everything a couple years ago it had the "taco lean" going on. Once I put my 255's on, I only rubbed on the driver side. Mine was pretty bad, I measured once and don't remember exactly but I think my driver side was well over an inch lower than the passenger.

I've since installed my lift, OME890s and old model SAW 2.0s with 650lb 14" springs. I installed the taller 890 on the driver side and cranked the driver side CO about 15mm (I think) higher than the passenger, which is just a little over half an inch. That cured my Taco lean I had going on. I'll try to find some head on pictures of before and after. May not be able to source any before because I tried to take pictures at angles where you couldn't see it haha.

I found one that was taken mostly head on before the lift. It's hard to tell but if you look at the lower A-Arms you can tell. It actually looked much worse than this on flat level pavement.

**Depending on how well my memory serves, I'll try to take a photo of the new stance after lift later**

I'm going to swap the coils one more time, but I'm thinking daystar 1.5 spacer on the DS is going to be needed, it seems like that's the most common fix anyway.

Seems like I can't focus on one project, but I've been working on this one for a long time it's just finally coming together.

The almost finished product

I built my own latch and hinge "my dad machined the hub for the hinge" I just couldn't find anything off the shelf that would work.

At this point I had to enlist the help of a friend, I don't have a tube bender, or the knowledge to use one but my buddy Taylor does and was willing to help.

Today back at my place I start finishing up my part. I wanted to plate part of it to kind of match the bumper and I still need to build a proper wheel mount, what is there is just pieced together from the mount I had on the roll bar inside the truck, I will get something put together soon and get it painted up.

What I got done today, or part of it any way.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, the hinge works great, the latch is a little sticky but works I will tweak it some and it will work as planned. Now I just need to round up a spare tire ha ha,

Should be doing the body lift soon, and the spacer for the rear and then go from there on getting the tires to clear.
Thanks y'all for checking in.

Thank you sir. It has been good and bad as far as it concerns my 86, good in that I am not taking my 86 in the woods and beating on it, bad in that it has taken a lot of time, attention and money away from it, but I enjoy them both. Thanks for the props on the tire carrier, it was a long time in the making, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Nice beefy looking hinge and latch, great detail with the grease fitting. Love the way the plate ties into the bumper's plate, nice! Seems like it'd also be a nice spot for a hi-lift mount, should you want an out-of-truck spot for one.

Thanks hab, been looking forward to your input. My goal was obviously function but I didn't want it to look like a complete after thought either, time will tell how it all holds together. I'm hoping to leave the hylift inside atleast for now, I had planned on mounting a few other things on the carrier but as it came together there just isn't enough room.
