You just did it now 'cause it'll be easier to get that long bolt for the rack out with no diff in the way and easier to deal with cvs with no lower ball joint. Waiting for the story/carnage pics too, you must've been having some good fun.

OK here's the story, my boy starts up this hill in his pickup makes it about half way and spins out, backs down and tries it again, and again and again, so me being me I get it my head heck I can walk mine rite up that, my big head was handed to me so on MY second try I thought well I'll push it a little harder this time well I made it alittle further but I also had my foot in the throttle a lot more than I should have and when I hit what ever it was that I hit it was hard enough to stall the engine leaving me with very little brakes to slow my now rearward decent and now power steering. I checked the CVs then and there and they seemed OK but trying to come out of a shallow creek bed it appeared the same gut wrenching grinding noise I had the last time. The sad part is I WHEEL this truck I have took it on trails that I shouldn't have and all with no issues but let me take it on some dirt trails in basically my back yard and this is what I get lol. I'm blaming my son because he was with me the first time to I love him but I think he's bad luck for me, I am of course joking, I let pride over rule sense and now I get to fix my rig. This is what you call a teachable moment kids lol. There was also some lite body damage but I will get into that later. Thanks y'all for checking in.

Well having not dug into it yet nothing is certain but if I striped the spider gears again I'm considering eliminating them all together. I can't afford a grand for an ARB but I'm considering a lock right or Detroit trutrack, I know a lot of guys that run lock rights in the front of there 1rst gens with out issue but the have the option of unlocking the hubs etc that I don't have so I'm trying to research and see if it would be a good idea for my truck. It will all depend on what I find when I start taking it apart I'm not pulling the diff if I don't have to.

Can you try and convince my wife of this because she ain't having it from me lol. Good memories with the kids at least, now if I can get my boy to stop texting me (yours broke and mine didn't hahahah) maybe my pride can recover.

Your wife is right and I'm a girl so I'm right too. You just go on ahead and head scratch at that for a bit.
Yet you shouldn't let us always being right get in the way of anything. Sometimes you've got to have some fun and play with your kid and maybe do some damage and eat a little hat. Boy, kids always forget their own losses right quick, but yours?

Ain't happenin'.

PS. Dear Jason's Best Friend and Incredible Wife which is not how my husband ever describes me so I am just a little teensy bit jealous,
This wee adventure (and the many more to come) are still lots cheaper than fast cars, cards or lawn mowers. Try to be thankful for small bills. Trust me and my hubby's $600 pistons (price he's admitting to), which are just the tip of the 3rd rebuild of his own hat eating fast car habit.

You know how that saying goes....If I had a dollar for every time I did something stupid...
Needless to say, I've done my fair share of stupid stuff. At least you were with with your kid....and just like I would, if my dad did something like that, you know I wouldn't let him live it down. That's the fun of having a good relationship with him. However, when he'd have enough, he'd give me that I'm gonna knock your head off your shoulder's look. And the razzing would cease immedately. Hope it all goes well and things aren't as bad they could be.

Really??? The truth worked???? Gotta try that on the husbandio! Mostly he comes along when I'm doing something to the truck and tells me 'gonna catch fire'.

Bummer about that gear mishmash but glad you can deal with it, that's a big money saver that'll pay for those new gears.

Habenaro.... From your avatar to your great comments, I always get a good chuckle. We need more wifeys into this hobby. You always make my day. I am slowly getting mine into it, but wish she progress a little faster.

The hubby just broke it to me that he's spent another grand plus on his bad habit, and here I was feeling sheepish for wanting to get the new exhaust I need. Hopefully he slows down soon or we'll be eating crackers for regular meals and crackers with catsup for the fancy days...

I just keep telling myself there are more expensive hobbies to have and in the whole scheme of things it makes him happy without being excessive all the time.

Terry: This pleases me no end.
