You've been busy Jason! Between life, this and your yeller truck I don't know how you find the time but I'm glad you do- and with pics, too!
thanks hab good to hear, I used some years ago and it seemed to be a good match on that car but it was a really popular gm color. as for the extra time lately we have been extremely blessed lately and life has eased up a bunch, and I have a great with that not only tolerates my hobbys but puts up with me all but sleeping in my shop at times lol.

the boo-boo on the bum-bum happened last spring mark it just took this long for my lazy but to get around to doing anything with it. we are doing great all but we havent had a kitchen for a week or so and I miss the wifes cooking, the guy should have the floor done in a couple days and then all will be good.

made it back from our wheeling/camping trip and the runner as usual performed great. the only issue at all is I think my brake master cylinder is going bad. we went back to coal creek/ windrock, wheeled with a great group of guys from the southeast land cruiser club, we didnt hit anything hard just rode so mild trails with a few obsticles here and there but still did a great job of reprasenting our IFS trucks. I didnt get a lot of pics but I will get up what I did get as soon as I can find my camera as at the moment its lost in the camping gear.

Camping, wheeling and that 'rare' future chance to work on the truck. It's a good life, Jason.

I have been doing a lot of research on what needs done with the steering on my runner. as it is I'm not suffering a lot of the symtoms other people describe, but at a little over 200,000 mls Im sure things are getting worn out. a while back I had the front end jack up and could move the pass side tire side to side more than felt comfortable, in my research I've determined it is most likely the inner tie rod, I didnt check the driver side but I'm sure its lose as well. so the plan is to stop driveing it untill I gather the parts to get it fixed. I'm planing on.
1. steering rack bushings
2. rack guide bushings
3. inner tie rods p/d
4. outer tie rods p/d
5. upper ball joints p/d
6. lower ball joints p/d
If there is anything else ya'll can think of that I need to do please let me know I only want to dig into this once and I dont want to miss something thats a common problem. its gonna take a couple weeks for me to round up all the parts but its got to be done.

Sorry it took so long, I was thinking on it. Your list is good. Add

'check control arm bushings, especially lower' to it. With all the things you'll have apart it'll be the easiest time to deal with them if you have to.
I haven't dealt with my front wheel bearings yet because they sound/act fine, how are yours?
How are your shocks/springs?
How are those cv boots/cvs?
How's the sway bar bushings/links?

Since you're replacing both your outer tie rods and lower ball joint are you going to go with the Tacoma version or stick to 4Runner bits? I'm NOT saying either is better, just curious.

Thanks for the reply hab, I replace both CVs last winter with parts store remans they seem to be holding up ok. I disconnected the front sway bar so no worries there, I will be checking the wheel bearings but the haven't given any issues so far. I wish I could afford to change my lift in the front (still just running spacers) but its not in the cards at the moment. I wasnt aware the taco and runner ball joint/tie rods were different I will have to do some research on that.

Post 4 has a link to more info and the last post is very interesting.

Personally I'm not convinced it's the way to go at all, just was throwing it out there.

I think I will just stick with the runner ones. Thanks for the info tho. Pricing this stuff thru the dealer ship was scary so I'm thinking MOOG stuff from rock auto may be the route I go.
