The 99 was so bad when we got it you couldn't even see there was an element at all. PO got a check engine light the day before we drove up to get the truck and knocked a couple hundred off because the shop that read the code told him it was likely an o2 sensor. Guess you could say it was the most I ever got 'paid' for a little maintenance.
Sorry I missed you hab, that deal worked out great for you hu. I'm hoping this along with new plugs fixes this. I've been doing a lot of research and seems I have a bunch of over look maintenance issues that I will be looking to you for advice on.

Going through my build thread it seems like all I've been doing is maintain, maintain, screw up, maintain. I don't know much, but I'm learning! I forget the mileage on yours, but with 244,xxx I think I'm ahead of you on this one by default.

You'll have to post pics of those plugs when you get a chance to get 'em out.

hey hab, I enjoy the mod stuff way more so the maintenance gets sorely overlooked but Im gonna realy try and get on top of it before I dont have a runner to mod on.
yours has a few more miles on it than mine has but Im really frustrated with myself for letting it get this bad.

Well got the plugs changed out today and Im gonna just have to admit that I have failed at the up keep on this runner, Im embarrased to show the pics I took of the plugs but its my fault they are this bad.

for comparison

I drove it down the road a few miles and it reallys seems to be running better [BIG SHOCK] just cleaning the afm didnt seem to do much on the drive home but I will see how it does on the way back to work.
one ? I do have is the front plug on the right back had oil all over the outside of it the electrode looked the same as the rest it was just on the out side.
next on the list if this fixes my stutter issue is going to be the front end, rack bushings, ball joints probably tie rods iner and outer and anything else that needs replaced.
thanks for checking in and all the advice.

At least you've still got electrodes of sorts.
I haven't had the pleasure of pulling the valve covers off but there was a recent thread about a spark plug tube o-ring. Oil seepage deal maybe on the one? Someone else chime in here....

Well I'm happy to report on the 70 mile drive to work the runner ran great not one stumble or hickup. So maybe that issue can be put to bed, fingers crossed. Thank you everyone for the advice and input.

Thank you sir I hope this takes care of it and its not just a fluke, you know I never noticed how hard it was to start till my son test drove a 3rd Gen and mentioned how much faster it started than mine, as I said before I feel like a bit of a bafoon for not changeling them sooner.

By wires do mean plug wires? The wires looked OK but with plug wires looking OK doesn't mean, much. Should I have installed new ones?

Plug wires yep and considering the age and shape of your plugs and knowing the wires are likely in a similar boat, were it me, yep.

I'm just trying to give you more stuff for your to-do list.
