My 96 is for sure cali and has 1 cat. Verified through the vin at the dealership and if I recall correctly also mentioned on the hood. Memory on the sticker is shaky, I can look in the daylight tomorrow for you. So far it has required different o2 sensors and cat.
Isn't it the newer ones (99-00) that have 2 cats if cali and 1 if not? And don't even newer (01 on?) have 2 cats and are 50 state or whatever they call that?

Clear like mud? I'm not sure on anything but my truck, anyone feel free to chime in.

And rub it in, my 96 is open dif....the 99's got the locker. So far the hubby has not left the 99 in the driveway long enough for the 96 to 'somehow' 'magically' 'mysteriously' acquire a locker.

How about that. I always thought that all cali spec had two cats. I'm really glad that mine isn't a california emissions.

In Cali w/o Cali emissions....that must be nice. For me it's only been a little painful to the pocketbook a couple of times. Now I wonder what the difference is in spec between the fed and cali o2 sensors for the 96. I read somewhere about 2 somethings vs 3 somethings in the cali cat. I am not remembering what the somethings are actually called, I'm pretty much sure it's not thingamajigs....

Hi Hab! Are you thinking of 2 way versus 3 way catalytic converters i.e. 2 versus 3 chemical reactions? I think most all cats are 3 way these days on new cars.

Probably, it's rattling around in my head somewhere, prolly under the dust bunnies.

I also said o2 sensors when the front one is actually an air fuel ratio sensor.

Happy Friday!

thanks for the reply and the photo; I'll go look at my own later and take and also post a photo of my own under hood sticker...

(BTW, I was under the apparently mistaken impression your '96 also had the e-locker as well)

Are you rubbing it in again?
Understandable 'cause the 99 does have a locker and they're both listed in my sig.
One day the hubby will leave that 99 long enough....

That'd be great if you could post up your sticker too, especially if it's different -or- if it's the same and you have a non-cali truck.

I'm only 'borrowing' it from you Jason.

Gotta clean it up and get a wiring kit from Painless or 12 Volt Guy.

Thanks! The husbandio saw it on Craigslist and I saw it here on YT- got it from Killer B today.

It's apparently my b-day present and the front will be my Valentine's day present. I'm the sort of person who's happy with a handmade card and a good day together doing stuff I like and having someone else either make or buy dinner but still- that's a guy who knows how to shop for a girl!

It's 430s so Killer B said he'd look for a front diff to match. I can also try Mighty Mouse if he can't find one. There'll be one around somewhere. Hopefully I'll get everything together and get it in by spring.

Bummer about your pinion bearing, hopefully it doesn't give you too much headache

And I'm looking at wiring kits and seeing others were able to wire theirs up their ownselves, with how-tos. I'm going to be looking hard at that option...

No more backing up to hit ledges straight on - you'll just go right on up regardless of the angle.
