Left headlight out. You know I've been contemplating how hard this would be to deal with as there is NO room in front of the dual battery box to allow the bulb to be changed.
Only one way in:
through the front.
Remove grill. Here is one of the infamous grill clips. You can see the lever (at the bottom) that you have to push down on to release the grill from the truck. When you do that the clip usually stays in the truck and needs to be removed (twist 90 degrees, pull out) and installed as shown into the grill so the grill can be later popped back into place. There are 7 of them.
Next unscrew marker light with phillips at the top and pull the assembly forward from the truck. There is a post on the light at the bottom corner nearest the headlight that fits into a hole. I tried to get pics but they wouldn't cooperate.
Next comes the eyebrow under the headlight. Unscrew on the right, pull to the right...
Remove the rubber dust boot. When you put it back on it is labeled 'top' and also keys into place.
To get the bulb out push down on the complicated looking side of the wire retainer and move it off the hook that hold it.
It swings out of the way...
And the bulb comes right out.
The bulb is also keyed so it only fits one particular way. For those who don't know don't touch the new bulb. You want it to stay clean clean clean.
I see you guys were talking bout that tool on craigslist seling those played out runners.
$3750 for that pile...lol.
You should see the 6900 dollar 94 4x4 22re 5spd up there now.
What are these people thinking.
I did see that! I'm never quite sure what they're thinking. Doubtfully charitable thoughts. The Red 'runner guy's wife was rattle can camo-ing a Jeep Cherokee while we were there. At least she taped off the trim. I forgot what they were selling that one for.
Caveat Emptor!
Some cheap halogen thing the hubby got off ebay. The color's whiter, my Sylvania Silverstar Ultra were really yellow, though less yellow than the regular halogens. As far as the cut-off output they're just like the stock bulbs, not HID by any means. He's got some on the 99 and doesn't get flashed when he drives so I'll take that as not blinding to other drivers. I'll have to do some night driving to decide whether I like the higher color temp or not. Whiter's not always better. Lemme see what I can do with the camera.

Ok Hab, you've got to drop your 5,000th post on this thread. Hi ya....
I like the color of the new headlight bulbs....much less yellow it appears from garage door pic.
hehe...... I see, I see.
I have almost 1/2 that many posts in much less time. Yikes!
It was fun.....no crowds, good snow, semi-blue sky....just the way I like it.
There is an International Box Of Mystery in my living room. The clues written on the box are things like
"not an exhaust"
"heavy feathers"
"is it a rock?"
"not a moose"
"Heavy, not for backpacking"
and the box is about 3x1x1.5'.
I have a feeling it's probably 4Runner related because it's too heavy for bikey or hikey or backpacky stuff and there's not much else I do with myself beyond those 4 things. Tools are good too. Maybe it's tools?
Curiouser and curiouser!

Nothing big. Finally got around to freeing up the sticky parking brake cable. The rubber boot at the back end has deteriorated into a few rubber rings so water gets in under the covering and the cable freezes up. This last batch of cold and the cable quit releasing fully even after the weather warmed up.
Will have to replace it at some point but it looks pretty simple to do. Just a matter of where on the priority vs. cash flow ladder it falls.
Oh yeah, and I found my muffle chuffle!! Leaky exhaust gasket in front of the cat pipe. I knew I wasn't hearing ghosts. Geez, you'd think exhaust stuff would last more than 17 years....
While I was cleaning up my bookmarks I found a link about fixing the slow to no retract seat belts. Hmmm....
