Where to put some lights?

I have a 02 Sport and exterior wise it is stock. Well when I sold my truck to Carmax I took off the KC Slimlight Titanium's that were on there and put on wally world lights so they didn't get me brights. Now I need a place to put them on my new baby. I want a bar like the JAOS lamp stay, but can't justify spending $400 on a piece of metal tube. Any ideas?

don't a lot of brush guard manufacturers (Westin, Manik, etc.) make push bars very similar to that? I know I've seen them - check Performance Products for ideas, then look for better prices elsewhere.

shoot, just drill the bumper, I can either drop by to show you mine, or give you a pic. I prefer the look and it's way more stable than a brushguard, from my experience...

That's fine for smaller/thin lights like hella 500s and such, but not for lights that are really deep. Back in the day when I had my Hella Rallye 4000s on my stock bumper, I had to drill the bumper and carve out part of the grille to get them to fit.

Aren't KC's deep lights?

k - I'm not familiar with KCs... just seems like most of them have pretty deep housings. If they are thin, then yes, drilling the bumper is definitely an option.

This is what I was thinking about. You can usually find them in black as well. This one comes with that skid plate thing too, but you get the idea.

somethign that small probably won't do any more damage in an accident. The coverage area is small enought that if you get hit hard enough to cause damage, it would have happened regardless of whether or not the push bar was on yoru truck or not.

The bigger brush guards can do more damage because they have much more coverage.

I'm not drilling any holes. I made the mistake of making permanent "beauty" marks on my old truck and when it came time to sell I regretted them. That westin bar is tempting. I have the stock Sport Edition skid plate there, but it wouldn't be hard to remove. Also- don't I remember seeing that they don't make that bar for my truck- you have to adapt one from a tacoma to fit.

Oh- and those KC's are about an two inches thick.

I've got the same problem. I am selling my 4runner with the brush guard but taking my Hellas. Problem is, they are 3.5 inches deep. Now I could actually drill the holes in the front of the bumper near the top, yet not on top, and since they can swivel up and down (like most lights), i could point them straight stilll, but i'd have to see how that looks...

I really grew to hate the brush guard I used to have, even thought it was larger. Anyways, I go for drilling because it almost has a rally sort of look to it. Plus, I will be going with a different front bumper eventually, and would just trash mine anyways.

I would suggest KC slimlites....they're probably about 2-3 inches deep and are a great lights. I have some mounted on my guard...I have driving titanium lights which push about 130 watts.....you can get long range lights that i believe push 300 watts. The KC's are also easy to wire and come with a 23 year warranty that includes bulb replacement!!

Pssst... Skrillah, read the first post again.... he's already rocking the Slims....

I had a Westin Safari on my truck, and it looked pretty cool, but limited the approach angle, and the lights danced like crazy when off road at night. I ended up selling it. If you don't do a lot of night 'froading, then you would be fine with something like that. I actually mounted my Hella's directly on my bumper, and they are much more rigid.
