Haven't looked at intake temps yet. Don't know how far I want to go as far as boost since I havn't taken it wheeling yet, if I stay at 7# I will just leave it as is, not going to melt a cat since there isn't one anymore. If I ever decide to go futher I will address it.

Well if you have seen my threads you already know what i think of that lol.

Get yourself a barrel of methanol and have at it! Kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get a NICE power boost while at it.

Awesome tread. Cool to see someone go out on a limb and try something and work out the bugs. To me thats the fun stuff.

What kind of off roading do you do? I am guessing your not too much into the rocks around here? You would need a serious skid to cover up your setup underneath. And how would that effect turbo temps having a big slab of metal around it?

I really hope your truck is not faster than mine, that would make me sick after all the money I dumped in my motor a few months ago.

I vote to go manual. Why spend 700 bucks on an auto when you can swap in a manual for almost nothing, and never have to worry about overheating it or trans cooler etc. I do lose some giddy up off the line by have a manual with 5.29's, but it's still way fun to drive. With all due respect, auto's are for girlfriends and moms.

Manuals are better once you are moving for sure, I looked into a swap a few years ago and came to the conclusion that it was not worth it. Better off getting a manual truck. Just cost too much and too hard to find the parts. If i could find all the parts for a manual swap for the same price as building the auto i would make the swap myself.

Also for turbo cars, particularly laggy turbo setups, an auto will be faster.

Oh, and yes his truck will be faster then yours lol. By a fair amount if i had to guess. If he adds meth and turns up the boost he will easily be faster then mine as well.

Turbo > supercharger ALL day long when it comes to power.

Mine is an auto and my wife drives the standard, go figure.

The turbo sits up a couple of inches above the frame and higher than the driveshaft, trailing arm, gas tank, and rear axle. It would take a pretty stupid move to damage it. I might build armor for it, if the driveshaft broke that would be pretty devastating swinging around back there.

I don't do any hardcore stuff yet that I would like to because my friends are being slow building there rigs and I don't want to go out alone. Or maybe thats just my excuse for not beating the ˟˟˟˟˟ out of my pretty 4runner.

Stuff like this.

Just reading through the last few posted and seen whee you said you would have to wach out for water you could always pipes the breather part in to the inside of the runner so that your not sucking up water. ( seen em put a turbo kit on a pickup on trucks and they ran theres in to a dimond plate tool box and cute 8 3in holes in the bottom side )

You could, but I think the noise would drive me insane and it would be rather awkward.

you can always rig up an aem bypass valve inside the cab and keep the main filter where it's at. This way if it sucks water bypass opens and you'll know it when you hear it inside the cab, otherwise you'd never know it's there.

No muddy water injection, just some mud chunks.
