Real interested how you are going to run the charge pipes. I was adding up ow much it cost me to do a setup like this last night and was not sure how to add up costs on piping that i didn't know where to run it lol.

If you could make of a price sheet on what this all has run you in the end that would be great.

44mm wastegate.

The piping is going right down the top of the frame between the body and the frame. I have a 2" body lift so there is a straight shot with plenty of room all the way to the front. I don't know where you would run it, maybe down the inside of the frame but that's really close to the exhaust. My friend wants to turbo his now too and doesn't have a body lift so maybe he can figure it out.

Saving all my receipts so I will know what I have in it when complete. As it sets right now $489.19, but like I said I'm not using brand name parts, if you do I would plan to spend around 2-3k, then there is fuel management which I haven't even got to yet.

Well, i have some hook up's for parts, i can get the stuff i would want at reasonable prices. A full price sheet of your build would give me a good enough idea to know if i can afford it.

It will really come down to how yours preforms once it is done though. The supercharger setup i have now works great but I could gain an easy 40-50whp going turbo without putting anymore stress on the motor (not using ~30-40hp to drive the SC + cooler intake temps will mean it makes power easier).

Then add a few more pounds of boost on top of that and would really wake the truck up. Problem is i need things like new tires for it as well.

What do you plan to do after the turbo for the exhaust? Just straight pipe out or are you going to put a muffler in there? How loud is it now? Some cars are real quite with just a turbo on there like my old 300zx, without any exhaust at all it was actually very quite.

In the video it sounded acceptably loud but hard to tell with where the camera was placed.

It's not very loud, sounds about as loud as my wife's 4runner which has a 40 series flowmaster, so no muffler for me. Just going to run the exhaust out around the factory location but will be higher up, probably out the side of the bumper I haven't built yet so it doesn't get smashed like my stock exhaust did.

I like that exhaust coming out the bumper idea. What size piping are you going to use for the "downpipe"? 3" or just keep with the 2.5"?

Don't know yet, I have a bunch of 2.5 and 3 so if 3 will fit i will use that, if not I know 2.5 will. Been spending most of my free time trying to get the pressure side done because that's the fun side.

Rounded up some leftovers and went to home depot and spent $20 so I can start mocking up some charge pipes to see where they will fit. Getting kind of anxious at this point.

Had some free time today so I mocked up half the charge pipes. Fit perfect along the top of the frame because of the 2" body lift. Also didn't know if the tire would clear but almost fully cycled and the wheel at the lock it's about 2" away from rubbing with 33" tires so good there too. Need to order piping now.

Nice, i didn't think it would clear the tires with that setup either. What size tires do you have? 285's?

Looking good again!

So are you going to more or less copy the STS setup it looks like just run it on top of the frame rails instead of beside it? What size piping are you going to use for the charge piping?

Down the top of the frame then up threw the inner fender, 2.5" aluminum piping, you can barely see it but in the 8th pic down there is a circle drawn in sharpie in the fender well, the pipe will go up threw there which is a pretty straight shot at the throttle body.

Just some advice with this one, I don't know if you thought about it or not yet, I am sure you have, but just in case, make sure that pipe has enough play around the hole your gonna be making to be able to move with the engine. I don't know if your planning on some sort of flex connection or whatnot. Would hate to see ya bust a pipe and/or hard mount.

I am loving this threads BTW. Bout time I see someone talking about this and actually doing it. lol.

Pretty big piping for a remote mount, might cause more lag with no real gains in power. Think a "2 or 2.25" would be less volume for the turbo to fill before it can start making boost. Thats what i see on most remote mounts, sometimes even smaller then that.

Splitting hairs really though, either setup will work just fine. Just real worried about lag personally with a setup like this. So not ideal from a performance aspect lol.

Was thinking maybe a couple of silicone hump couplers might supply enough play, going to start the hole at 3" and just see what happens. Don't know why more people haven't, none of it has been difficult, drove it everyday while building it so no down time, and it was cheaper than my tires.

I think the reason no one has really done it is lack of welder/tools. I would SO do this without a second thought if i had a welder and tools to do it myself.

As it is i have to pay someone else to do it and that is not cheap.

Wish welders were cheaper, don't have $500 for one.

Not worried about lag at all in the first place, but the 2.5" will be about 9.5 liters air to compress where as 2" would be about 6.2, it's not going to take a considerable or noticeable amount of time to fill that difference. As far as performance, if I decide to run 18psi and a bigger turbo and spin it to 9k I wont need to replace my charge pipes, lol.

lol, yeah you will have plenty of flow and it will work just fine. I am very big on efficiency though so anytime i see something less then ideal it just bothers me.
