towing new boat

I sold my old boat and am buying a new one. The new boat is somewhat heavier. I have a 2000 tacoma srs pre runner w/ v6 motor. What is the towing capacity of this truck 3500 lbs?? Could I add a leaf spring to the rear to help out? If so, is this a big job. Any advice is always appreciated. Thanks in advance

my 01 prerunner has a 500lb tongue weight and 5000 lb towing capacity so I'd think yours does too.

Oh yeah, a tranny cooler is good on anything auto regardless.

I think there is only a 350 pound tongue weight on the bumper. So if you don't have a towing hitch it might be a good idea to get one. (class 3)

What is the weight of the new boat? It may be a good idea to get a trailer with brakes too!

I would go with a receiver hitch no matter what.

I tow a ~4500 wakeboard boat around all summer with no problems (cept' for a lack of power). One thing I am getting done very soon before this summer though is the trans valve body recalibration. The shift between 1st and 2nd reallllly drags out with the extra weight. BTW - I have a class three hitch on there and wouldn't even think about towing from the bumper....

I have a class 3 hitch on the truck already. My previous boat was real light, this one will be 3 times the weight, I guess.
