Best trail CB radio?

Best trail CB radio?

I'm going to put a CB in my 4-RUNNER for trail use, whitch is best? and why?

The best one is one that can be hot rodded such as "upping" the wattage output.
Mine is that way, and putting out about 6 X the normal wattage.

Also the antenna plays a key factor here.

Not all radios can be "super tuned."

Well, outside of *illegally* upping the wattage of the radio (/me calls Dept. of Homeland Security ) all of your transmit/receive range is based on your antenna.

FCC has the max at a radio's output pegged at 4watts. As such, they're all gonna be the same there. So it really boils down to your antenna choice.

I have a Uniden Pro 520 paired with a
Wilson 1000.

This radio is supposedly pretty rugged, but I've only had it in for a month or so, so i can't speak for durability. It did work great in Anza-Borrego though.

I'd look at it like this, the more things there are (bells and whistles) the more things there are to break.
