So i have these puny stock wheels on my '91 4Runner(anyone know what size they are??). I am not sure if it is my tires causing this problem, but my runner jumps all over the road if there are bumps or dips. Sometimes when i turn it like hops and my back end will skip to the side only a little, or so it seems. I guess they are good for fuel economy. I do not do any off-roading. I also have not a clue how tires are sized, but do you think i should get some bigger ones? I do not want huge tires, but just something bigger. How much would they effect my fuel economy and will i have to do specific adjustments?

In regards to your tires skipping around on the road... I'd first say to check your tire pressure. It's probably wayyy tooo high! When I got my new tires back, they had put 65PSI in my tires, and I was feeling the same problems.

Maybe somebody else knows the tire size you have? Or you could check and post back, and I promise you somebody will give you some input.

 

check on the inside of the door jam. the sticker should let you know the size of the wheel and tire. or just read the sidewall of the tire

 

My sticker said i have 15 x 7 on both the back and the front. So can i get some that are a little bigger. I think it would make my truck look much better. What sizes and how will that effect fuel economy. Like i said before, i am not looking for off road tires.

 

15x7 is the size of your wheels, not your tires.
You either have a 31x10.5 or 225/75R15.
Look on your sidewall for either of those numbers.

You should be able to put on 31x10.5 without any problems. These are a little bigger than what you have and are the stock size of the 2nd gen SR5 4runners. Any bigger than that and you'll have to do some more mods.

 

If I recall, yours are the equivalent of 27" tires.
31" should be a nice jump for you

31x10.5r15. R15 is the diameter of the wheel rim
