Just got done installing the PIAA horns to replace the stock "meep-meep" version. I already have real K3LA train horns and a steam whistle which are both ridiculously loud, but that's just the problem. I can't use them for small honks to let someone know the light changed green or whatever. Toyota finally caught on with their 01-02 4runners and I wanted something similar to those.

So I put the 400/500hz versions in the stock location, no mods necessary. Ive satoshi'd my grill and they fit very nicely behind it. I did have to slightly manipulate the a/c receiver/dryer tube down just a tad, but no problems there. The sound is a huge improvement, although I'd prefer a little lower tone. I've seen a few 300/400hz models but they're very rare and therefore very expensive (like $160). All together I'm quite pleased with the purchase as they were a snap to install and make my truck feel more sophisticated lol

Here I was looking for $10 horns from Harbor Freight until I realized this thread is from 2003.

I love how if you post a reply to a thread people whine about how old it is, but if you post a new topic, then you're an idiot for not using the search feature. Besides, all the best threads are old anyway :p

Yeah, I thought of that. That's why I didn't say, "you should've started a new thread." So I wasn't whining about reviving an old thread, but whining about how the price of the horns has gone up.

Just came back from Harbor Freight,... they have a hi/lo tone horn combo set there for $12.99. It is chrome. I think the others here are mounting separate hi and lo tone horns. I think that the combo set might be too big though.

Be nice to know if the Freeway Blasters will fit in a pickup truck as most here are describing the mod installed in just a/the 4Runner
