That is true but all that is required here is that there be red reflectors on the rear and I have put them on but not as an actual part of the lense

You are not gonna believe what I picked up in SoCal on my last weekend at the swap meet. I'm walking by this one seller and noticed a pair of 3rd gen JDM tails on the ground. I knew exactly what they were and so I asked the guy, "How much for the tail lights?" ... "ten bucks". So handed him the cash and put them in my "bag"

They are complete with the wiring harness that goes all the way to the connector AND the body rubber grommet! They are like brand new, no cracking, glazing and crystal clear! Well I didn't even mess with them until I got home on Tuesday so I'm unloading these and decided that I would swap out the lenses as mine have "age" cracks but don't leak. I started to pull the bulb harness and guess what I found? LED bulbs for the stop/brake lights and AND the turn signal bulbs! Looks like I will be installing these this weekend! And I will affix a 3/16" strip of red 3M reflective safety tape to the base edge to make then legal!

There are so many options... for example you can go with Elton's above or something similar... you can get LED lamps that go in the stock housing... this would be the cheapest and safest IMO if something fails it is easy to get a normal replacement bulb anywhere you happen to be and your good to go again...

I know this is a super delayed response, but I just saw the questions after the thread got bumped. I got them on eBay, and I think I paid about $90. I worked at a building supply company who footed the bill since I went on large deliveries, which often took place on the side of the road.

It's a 96 watt Voltex kit. The strobe module and bulbs that came with it are good quality, but the switch and wiring is crap, and it didn't even come with a relay. I wired it up with a relay and one of the Toyota Fog light switches. (I had an extra laying around)

Now I don't really ever use them, but they're fun to play around with.

holy old thread batman! The pic of my old truck close to the top makes me miss it. At least the tail lights from the burnt 90 made it to the 2wd 91. So did the plates.
