Question Rear Wiper Removal...

Hi All,
New member here... I just purchased a sweet '99 SR5 5spd with only 48K miles on the clock. I love it! I just received the factory service manuals.
I have a dumb question though. The rear wiper looks like the original one from 99. It is thrashed and I want to replace it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove it! Neither the service manuals or the owner's manual explain how to remove it. Also, can I buy a replacement at any auto parts store, or do I have to go to the stealer??? I looks real small, that's why I am asking.

Thanks, and I look forward to learning a lot from these forums!

Congrats and welcome...

get a blade from your dealer. they seem to work best and last longer. they'll also show you how to change it out (for free).

Does it come undone by those two phillips head screws? I have never heard of a wiper blade being held on by screws... Usually the "snap" in.

Stealer part and its just what they refer to as a insert/refill only. To remove just pull the insert and it will pull away from the frame and then put new one in place push it back in. just be sure to put the metal rails back in teh same way you took it out. You do not need to remove the screws, if you do it, it will make the whole wiper blade come off and thats not what you need to do.
Good luck if you need more info, I guess when I get home I can post a pic or something.

Yeah, just remove the rubber part, not the whole blade assembly...
