The top and bottom brackets clamp right over the edge of the rear door...kind of like a c-clamp. The top bracket is one solid piece well the bottom two is separate. Once its fully bolted on, its not going any where. The top bracket easily slides under the OEM spoiler too, and your going to need some good double sided tape or a very thin piece of foam pad for the underside of the top and bottom brackets.

thanks iceman601 that helps a bit but you say "once it is fully bolted on" but I see no bolts or screws or fasteners or holes for same.

In reality it is a friction fitment? Yes- I keep looking above to the SURF185 photo-is that your ride ?

It's not the bumper, it's him:

That's what I'm looking for...

And damn the twisted metal look, I think it will look great powdercoated black!
Now, to try to find ANOTHER one on ebay...oh, and thanks Rock Slide for directing me to this thread. I swear I searched here for hours for an answer...but sometimes that's how SEARCH can go.
Can't wait to see final pics, and if you don't like how it looks, shoot me a message!

This is from my parallel universe thread about rear ladders I posted yesterday:

Thanks Rock Slide...I needed that. Now maybe people can just post pics of the different hatch ladders in this thread. A ladder would really be nice when messing with stuff on my rack like surfboards...they tend to be a little unwieldy and delicate, especially longboards in a good breeze. It would also make a great scaffolding for my nephew that thinks he's Spiderman. He's 24. That's a joke, he's only 3. Anyway, someone mentioned they love these things in Costa Rica? Strange...I should look into that...
