quick steering stabalizer question

Ok so I was doing some stuff to my Runner today and I decided to check the steering stabalizer because I get a lot of steering wheel shake. When I unbolted it, it was pretty easy to move back and forth by hand. Think it's time for a new one?

Mine was really easy as well when I removed it. The OME one you can just barely move it by hand. For $54 you cant hardly go wrong.

Del - I agree with Joey - was yours leaking oil at all? The OME is a TRUE bolt on. No drilling or anything. You'll need a pickle fork to get the stud out of the centerlink.

Same thing here. What a difference the OME stabilizer made. Only took about 45 min to change out. When i took out the stock part and laid it next to the OME, I had myself a good laugh at how "under-beefed" the original was. Can't go wrong.

By the way, for those who don't know.....Pickle Fork=Tie Rod Separator

I used the Heckethorn SS from JC Whitney. Direct replacement & something like $36 (including the rubber boot, despite what the box says). You'll need a short-handled pickle fork &/or a BFH and blue wrench.

I didn't use a BFH or torch. Easy bolt in and what an improvement.

Undid the bolts at both ends - slipped a wide pry bar behind the body and nudged. I soaked it with oil the night before and it was no work to take it off. I gave it to a buddy who had a wandering problem with his Ford fullsize van and once he figured out a way to mount it he was very happy with the result. Mine wasn't that worn out as everyone elses so perhaps the previous owner replaced it once already.

I'm not sure. There was oil/mud everywhere, but it could just be from when the CV boots were worn. I'll definatly be going with a new stabilizer soon though.

There's a link in the tech section on how to do this mod and a good place to buy it. Go for it man!
