I've been researching suspensions and see several references to "PP Coils", are these Performance Products coils? The only lift I'm able to find on the Performance Products site is a RevTek spacer lift which is not what I want. Anyhow, could someone clarify for me?

 

Yup PP refers to the performance products 1" lift springs. They actually give a little more lift than that 1.5"+, depending on year. YOu would probably see 1.5-2" lift from them.

I put in my own trucks specs, but should be the same set up. $300 for a set of 4 is what I paid a year ago. I am running these with the Bilstein HD shocks and love it, gave me about 2" of lift I'd say.

I was considering doing a LC rear lift since I have some used LC coils from my old LandCruiser, but after doing a bunch of reading, I think those would provide me with more lift then I want. I want just enough to run some 32" tires as I would like to keep my current highway gas mileage of 22mpg From

Check out my truck in the rides section, but its an 01 with PP coils in the rear with the bils 5100's.
It was 2 inches of lift for our "lowrider" 01-02 years.

 

I have the PP with billies on a '00, and I find it too stiff personally. FYI. I would check out http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_co..._liftkits.html for Steve's lifts. His are regarded as the best you can buy around here. I am going to be making some sort of a change to my setup to soften it up. Its all relative to what you consider a smooth ride though.

 

I believe the Bilsteins I have are just the HD models, I think the 5125's are different, could be wrong on that though. Between the shocks and springs my truck rides quite a bit stiffer than stock, so no, I wouldn't call it a smooth ride. I like the way it feels being stiffer as it feels better when cornering and rebounds well on bumpy stretches. Perhaps just the springs with a softer shock would return a smooth ride, I did both together so I can't really say.

 

x2 to what pat said as well. It definitely rebounds real fast which doesn't give the ride a real smooth one. Corners pretty good in my opinion. Not a Caddy ride though...

 

Hmmmmm, I'm really not wanting to stiffen things up too much. I wonder if shocks other then the Bilstien HD's would help the ride? I'm not going to be doing any serious off-roading, more expedition style stuff. I was attracted to the PP coils as everyone said they were progressive rate and I do occasionally run a roof-top-tent and ARB Fridge in the back, but running a heavy OME coil full time doesn't make sense for me ..... might be back to square one.

I have checked out the SS and they look very well put together and everyone raves about them, that being said the price to play is $1200 + shipping and a little more if you want the fronts assembled .... thats just not in the budget. I was hoping to come up with a suspension for 1/2 of that and not go down the road of spacers. Having so many options out there is sort of a blessing and a curse it seems.

 

if you get the right shocks with the PP coils the vehicle will be amazing, air your rear tires down a bit and even better! for over 1 year now i have run the coils from Canada to Belize and they have been nothing but fantastic on these roads from hell. i have put near 900lbs in my truck and the coils have held the weight really well.

 

I am running tokico trekmasters with pp springs, and the ride is good. It's a little stiffer than the stock shocks, but the overall feel is much sturdier. Cornering and rebound is much better. I chose the trekmasters instead of bilsteins because I had read that some people thought the bilstein/pp setup was too harsh. Shox.com have the trekmasters, as well as ebay.

Glenn - Are you running the stock height replacement Tokio's? The front part # being gu3535 and rear being gu3536?

 

Not sure about the height, but those are the same part numbers.
