Portable Air Compressors

I'm looking at a Viair 400 portable air compressor. Does anyone have that model and what do you think about it?

What's the best price you found so far.

I think I got $265 shipped.

PM Midiwall, he's got a Viair, might be able to help you out. If you're getting it to inflate tires, it'll put some serious wear and tear on the compressor, so better to get one model higher than what you think you need. Just my 0.02's.

I don't have the 400, but I really like my Viair 450. Viar makes a high quality unit at a pretty good price. I paid around $200 for the 450 new on ebay.

I have found the Viair 400 portable for $239. I will be inflating tires with it, it would be nice to have one with 100% duty cycle, but for as little as I will use it, I hope the 400 will suffice, plus it comes as a kit-plug and go.

I also have a Viair 450 that I made into a portable unit. Works 100% better than my ARB compressor. Got it on EBay as well. If I could find my digicam I'd post pics.

Most compressors can be made portable. Just add battery clips, in line fuse, on/off switch, and air quick coupler. Mount it into a box and you're set!

I pretty much did what Jay said.
Added a pressure switch though so I can use the compressor should my ARB one fail. Check out my photo album under misc pics for a pic of the setup and a brief description.
