Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster

I ordered a magnaflow 18" single in/out muffler and can trade it for a flowmaster (same size, etc) and get it installed for free.. i dont know much about either...should i keep the magnaflo?? is it that much better than flowmaster?? the flowmaster i would be gettting was on a truck for a weekend and then taken off apparantly becuase it was on a kids truck and his parents didnt want the loudness...

i have no experience with magnaflow, however, at around 2K rpm the flowmasters have a horrible drone. might not be a problem for you but for some people i know its a nuisance. I dont know if the magnaflow is the same way, i dont even have a muffler myself...too expensive.

i just listened to the clips...the magnaflow sounds much ricier (is that a word? haha) than the flowmaster...i def dont want ricey. I have a cut out on my exhaust now and it sounds like a hybrid between a riced out civic and a dump truck.

Gibson has a cool sound. Kind of Euro Sports car-ish. Have it on the Taco and want it for my Runner.

i wish i knew what series it was...maybe 40? im pretty sure its the same length (18") as the magnaflow i ordered. I was thinking about doing the flowmaster with a short tail pipe ( 2-3") What are the differences in the flowmaster series? is the 30 series louder than the 50 series?? shorter?

Hmmm... I like my Flowmaster 70 really well on my '87 5VZFE. No drones, no rice, not overly loud, the thing is strong as a tank, just a nice throaty deep sound.

I have a Magnaflow 18" on my Tacoma and a Flowmaster in the 1st gen (don't know which). Since having the exhaust fixed on my 1st gen I've noticed that the Flowmaster is louder at WOT and at a higher pitch while the Magnaflow is deeper and more gutteral.

I prefer the Magnaflow and would replace the Flowmaster if it were a straight trade.
