Anybody have any idea how much a 90 toyota pickup ext cab, auto, with about 100,000 miles on it? It has a few rust holes in the bottom of the box with rust around the top ledge of the box. A few other minor things have rotted away like a bracket to the quarter panel infront of the rear driver's wheel. All rust is surface rust with the exception of the holes in the box.

Other then that it seems mechanically sound, engine was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago, new tires and brakes, semi new shocks.

Anybody have an idea of how much this truck is worth?
Any imput is appreciated.

Hard to say without a pic but if it looks farily decent on the outsiede with that milage it should be worth at least 5K.

Only if it's 4wd. Depends on where you live as to how much folks tend to pay for them though, Autotrader is a good way to check asking prices in your area. I would knock of HUGE points for that R word though. It isn't reversible (not easily or inexpensively) like a broken part is. Why was the engine rebuilt at 70k miles?

Around here, as described (if 4x4) it wouldn't go for more than about 4k I'd bet.

Timing chain broke. Replaced pistons, valves and the likes.

But all it takes is a sandblasting kit to take care of rust and an inhibitor, plus some etch primer and some good spray bombing.........

 

Yea, thats sounding more like a $3,500-$4,000 truck.... It is 4wd right?

 

And hours and hours and hours and hours of sanding and priming to get it straight, and it will always rust out at the edges of the filled holes again later.. etc...

 

My thought is to find out why it was rebuilt at 70000. Was something wrong with it? was it in an accident? Suspicious.....

It's a 2WD model, all holes will be replaced with sheet metal, rust inhibited, and filled, done professionally at that.

I've thought about replacing parts of the truck with fiberglass body panels that I can get at my auto parts store, and maybe making some of my own pieces for the body out of fiberglass with alot of time and patience. God love 12 hours shifts at work.....

I know the truck well, it's my grandfather's truck, but do to health, he is no longer allowed to drive. So I figure that it's better for me to own it then some little clown out there who's going to beat the snot out of it more then I would.

 

Aright, problem solved, it looks ike I'm going to get the truck, but at a very good price. Christmas and birthday presents for the next coupe years are what's going to pay for it.......

Wherever the holes are in the body, they will be repaired with metal, not bodyfill. Everything has to be done right, I'm a little bit of a prefectionist.
