I need a motor!!
hey guys whats up? new to the forum.. I need some help bad guys. I have a 1989 toyota 4x4 pick-up with a motor i guess thats not usual for it. It has a toyota 3vz-fe 3.0 d.o.h.c v6.. the head gaskets blew on the motor and every time i go to look for a new motor or head gaskets no one has them.. I've been looking around and a 1993 toyota camry came with the same motor. is it possible to take one from a camry and put it into my truck?

DOHC?????? I've only ever heard of SOHC in a truck/4Runner. You are just counting the number of camshafts on each bank of cylinders, right?
SOHC=one camshaft per bank (2 total on a V6)
DOHC=two camshafts per bank (4 total for a V6).
A common misinterpretation (I've even seen manufacturers (cough!Buick!cough!) screw it up)

Welome to YT. First of all the Camry doesn't have the same motor. It's a DOHC version of your SOHC motor. No one on this board has ever swapped one so we can't even talk facts about what it would take to do it or what it would drive like once it's done.
As for HG sets, check eBay. But $220 is the cheapest price I've ever heard. Personally, I would only use genuine Toy parts. Contact DOA racing for new studs that allow better torquing to eliminate leaks in the future. This engine is prone to HG leaks and throwing rods. Depending on your vehicle's mileage, you might ought to think about swapping in a new long block or short block. If you do, again, talk to your dealer about genuine Toy parts or get them on the web.

I have some heads I'll sell you. I threw a rod and my block is worthless. I bought a new long block so I don't need my heads. My engine was replaced at 105k so the heads are still in good shape.
