Hi guys, new here, 1st question...
Hi everybody. New to the board. My first question concerns TSBs, specifically:
Component Description:
6. STRUCTURE:BODY:TRUNK LID NHTSA Number: 346963
Bulletin Number: 435
Bulletin Date: MAR 2001
Vehicle: 2000 Toyota 4Runner
Summary:
THIS ELECTRONIC MAIL MESSAGE STATES THAT TOYOTA IS OFFERING RETRO-FIT INTERNAL TRUNK RELEASE KITS TO ALLOW THE TRUNK TO BE OPENDED FROM THE INSIDE IN CASE OF ENTRAPMENT ON ALL APPLICABLE 1990 - 2000 MODELS. *TT
from edmunds.com site. Does anybody know what this TSB is talking about or what they do for it? I think it'd be nice to have a latch on the inside of the tailgate, but not if it's going to mess up the tailgate interior. I have a 2000 4Runner by the way. Thanks.

oh i don't plan on getting trapped. just be more convenient if i'm in the back with the gate closed and havta get out. if there's a latch, it's easier than climbing over the back seats or opening the rear window and reaching out and opening it from the outside.
thanks for the welcome!

talk about a hijack...
lol
Anyways, that would be an AMAZING new feature. I sometimes camp and sleep in the back of my runner around a campfire or something and so it would be GREAT to have that. It's a huge PITA to get out the rear doors when you're laying down back there. I have a 97 though. Call your local stealership, they'll run your VIN through the TSB database and see what all TSB's you're up for and hopefully they'll do it. But as you mentined, take caution. Who knows what kind of a hack job they'll do to the interior tailgate. Great find though, and WELCOME!
