how do u keep sand out of airbox?

how do u keep sand out of airbox?

i plan on bringing my new 4 runner into the pits this summer...is there any way to keep sand out of the airbox and engine???

I'm with Vato Loco on this one. There's nothing you can do to totally eliminate it short of sealing the entire engine bay from the outside environment. Sand gets in everything. the main thing you should be concerned about is having the diligence to thoroughly clean everything afterwards the best you can.

that's what the air filter is for. Use the factory filter or an amsoil filter, not k&n. Some guys at the dunes have found sand dust on the engine side of the kn filter.

Oh, you can try putting pantyhose over the airbox inlet, not sure how well that works though. Make sure you use TRD pink panty hose though.

Robinhood beat me to the pantyhose over the intake tube. You can also put a coat of grease between the airobox and its lid. you can't do much more than that.
