High beams...

The 'high beam' idiot light (LED) on the dash of my '01 comes on and/or flashes when I start up?!? I've checked all the lights (headlight hi/lo's, side markers, etc) and nothing is out, yet just about everytime I start my rig the 'high beam' LED either rythmically flashes or stays lit until I actually turn the head lights on?? Initially I was able to make it go away by jiggling the the blinker arm a bit (acknowledging the light??), so I thought it was just a short/bad contact problem. That doesn't do any good now. Now I'm starting to wonder if the LED is some type of indicator since it flashes so rythmically. I would think if a short/bad contact were the cause, the flashing would be random and less rythmic when it did occur?

I disabled my DRL's almost a year ago by following the write-up for my '01, but the flashing 'hig beam' dash light started just a few weeks ago.

The owner manual doesn't mention any thing about the 'high beam' LED being an indicator for anything.

Anyone run into anything like this??

Dealer

If you got a friend at your local dealership, tech, parts guy, salesman even, I'd try asking them to find out for you. Couldn't hurt...

Maybe you're low on headlight fluid.

I believed a few people here got that problem on their 01-02 including my 02 Sport. I took it to thhe dealership, they kept my rig there for 3 long days then told me "NO CAN DO", so they RECONNECTED my DRL wire.

The service writer said that "before starting your rig, pull the EM brake slightly until you here just 1 click, then start the vehicle, release the EM brake, then drive" this will prevent the DRL from coming on. I do put my EM brake on everytime I park but that doesn't do anything.

Let's know what you find out.

The best possible way to fix this problem is to use a trusty hammer, a really big one. Simply gather all of your anger and gently smash the headlights and the dash and all of your problems will be solved.

I think the easier solution is that me and him trade cars.

My headlight indicator works fine, and while clearly yours has a costly defect, I am willing to live with it. I hope that my truck (free from headligh indicator defects, as well as having just had the blinkers and head lights bled) will suit your needs. When should we arrange the exchange?

That wasn't part of the original agreement... That's it. If you don't satisfy me I'm walking out on this one!
